When looking for opportunities to make a difference, I was fortunately introduced to KEEP by a friend. .I found it to be somewhat unique in many regards especially in addressing a need, educational comeback from year a of war and disease in Liberia. Keep is balanced in scale considering funding levels and team capabilities. KEEP is personal unlike many mainline NGOs and dynamic particularly in its leader Brenda Moore.. It supports practical new opportunities such as computer training and publishing topical children's books such as how to live in a COVID world.

In my search for ways to give back, I was luckily introduced to KEEP an organization with educational goals mitigating unfortunate losses to human capital from years of war and disease in Liberia. Run by a dynamic and forward thinking leader, Brenda Moore, KEEP is balanced with funding levels and team capabilities. It is interactive with other initiatives such as Books for Africa and responsive to needs as in its computer training classes and design and publication of children's resource books on topics such as dealing with Covid. It is true to its core goal of placing its characteristic orange and green reading rooms around the country to provide reading access and hope to Liberian children and their parents

I have volunteered with KEEP for nearly 4 years and have had an opportunity to witness up-close the life-changing impact of their work. KEEP's growing network of reading rooms and resource centers offer a safe space for children who often have no other access to books and constructive recreational activities. Through the weekly reading programs and reading clubs, kids from low-income families and under-resourced schools have an opportunity to explore otherwise unimaginable worlds through books, computer classes and arts and crafts. Students have improved their reading times, increased their self confidence and enhanced their critical thinking skills through the structured engagement and Q&A sessions with the volunteer readers. KEEP's work is truly transforming lives through the power of books and I am always proud to spend my time in the reading rooms with their dedicated team and the even more passionate young readers!

My name is Mmonbeydo Harrell, Executive Director of ORWOCH. i was fortunate to be one of KEEP's volunteer readers on September 21, 2019 and had the opportunity to see firsthand the great job KEEP is doing in Liberia. KEEP is an great little nonprofit that provides reading opportunities for children throughout Liberia. The organization was started during the heat of the Ebola crisis when children were prevented from attending school for fear of transmission. You can see the transformation KEEP is making in Liberia, and it urges you to do more. I had the pleasure of reading at the June Moore Public School where the children of the community go to read every Saturday. It was heartbreaking to see the love for reading Brenda has nurtured in that community. KEEP,and the organization I work with have collaborated on many occasions to hold government accountable in lieu of the high rate of SGBV reported cases (2,200) from Jan. to July . KEEP works in schools to prevent Sexual Harassment and Abuse. When I read, at KEEP, I was verbally told of their safeguarding policy and asked to read and sign the policy. I am happy to recommend KEEP because you see your donation at work. You see buildings transformed into happy little reading corners.

In 2013, I provided a professional development experience for teachers in Gbargna, Liberia, and recognized the great need for all kinds of books. Since then, I have shipped over 26,000 books and other educational materials to schools, universities, and libraries across Liberia. I can state unequivocally that KEEP is one of the finest organizations providing educational opportunities for Liberian children and their parents in the entire country. Brenda Maseedah Brewer Moore began with a stop-gap effort to prevent learning loss during the 2016 ebola epidemic, and has rapidly grown the organization by providing four reading rooms, by organizing volunteer opportunities for young Liberian professionals and others (including the First Lady and the British ambassador) to work with children on Saturday mornings and after school, by writing and producing a film on child sexual abuse and molestation, by forming leadership clubs for girls and boys in rural counties as well as Monrovia, and by teaching rural mothers how to advocate for their children. She has organized three successful galas at the Royal Hotel in Monrovia, this year netting $3500, enough to build KEEP's fifth reading room, which she builds with a team of workers and volunteers. KEEP will remain one of my primary recipients because of the excellence and scope of its program and especially because of her leadership and vision. It is no wonder that she was named one of 23 Ashoka Fellows worldwide this year. So proud to call her friend!!
