Kids Connection Haiti Inc

Hi Everyone, today I want to share with you my experience in cite Soleil before I met the Kids Connection Haiti (KCH). I remember growing up in cite Soleil without my father, mother, and other relatives who could support my education even my daily food. After my secondary school, life became more and more difficult, the only choice I had was a gun because that was the reality of my area, that was the life lived by the youths. So, I met the Kids Connection Haiti's Group in February 2017, and they offered to me another choice to go to trade school instead of the gun's choice. I was not good according to their policies as a new student, but they accepted me, they took me into the program as a water student. I started my Chemistry and water grant training in March 2017 and finished in November 2017 as a specialist in the domain. Everyone in life has a second chance, and everyone in life has a last chance to live a better life with a new choice, but it depends on your community, and what it can offer you. it was not my case because there was no one in my community to give me that chance and offered the school choice instead of the gun's one. KCH did it for me, I want to say that KCH is not only a group of person who wants to help the young, KCH is like a family who understands when they invest in their kids they need to be sure of their investment. They gave me all the necessary support I needed to complete my training even after my graduation, they offered other specific classes to attend effective background as well as the career choice workshop they provided to graduate students that could help them to start a good professional experience in their future life. Thanks to your generous hearts and actions as donors, I become a water specialist, with so many other skills and backgrounds. Here I stand as a very important person for my community and why not the world my training and experience in chemistry and water drinking could help them to live a better life. In 2018, I found my first contract with the school to create a water drinking and private system, In 2019 I found another contract with Global Groundwork and KCH to create another system in city soleil to provide water to the population. With those experiences, I am today leading the Wash Training project, which is a training given in sanitation and water drinking for KCH. So, I am proud of all the donors and all the KCH groups who make the sacrifice to help the young Haitians living in extreme poverty.

I am Georgeline Presnard, KCH beneficiary and l feel very lucky to be part of KCH. From the age of 17 until today, KCH has continued to help me. When l was 17, l was in 7th grade, l had no one to help me go to school. It was from that moment that everything changed. Last year i finished high school and now I'm learning pastry and cooking. Today thanks to KCH, l will have a better future. For this, l would like to thank all the staff at KCH. THANK YOU.

KCH has provided stability and hope to students during a time of significant turbulence in Haiti. Since KCH is small and targeted, it has been able to pivot to quickly address emerging needs of students. As a result, KCH students are safe, housed, nourished and pursuing their educational dreams amid the ongoing unrest.

What I love most about KCH is its focus on empowerment. The programs are designed, prioritized and run by Haitians. I don’t see this as charity but rather an investment in the skills and talents of the Haitian people so they can realize their potential.

I have worked with KCH since the beginning of 2020. The organization has grown in its capacity to bring education to underserved Haitian youth throughout the chaos of the previous years. The ability of the organization to stay not just functional, but also improve, is a testament to its in country staff and the organization's dedication to its mission.

I've had the great pleasure to see first-hand Kids Connection Haiti's impact on deserving youth and young adults in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. The impact is real and tangible. KCH students ARE becoming financially independent and contributing leaders in their communities by graduating in in-demand fields and they ARE finding employment or creating their own employment by starting a micro-business. The KCH business model works - even through the pandemic and recent, severe gang violence!

I've been volunteering with Kids Connection Haiti for 10 years as a board member, photographer, and social media manager, and I can confidently say this organization is truly transformative. From the moment I got involved, I was blown away by their unwavering passion and commitment to making a profound difference in the lives of young adults in Haiti.

I love this non profit organization. They are helping so many young people in Haiti who age out of the orphanage system or have a difficult past. They pay for their rent, education, healthcare, life skill seminars. Over 90% get a job after graduation from high school which is amazing. The founder has a heart of compassion for the children of Haiti. What a difference KCH makes in the lives of all the young people in their program. ❤️

My name is Enock Devallon, I am 25 years old, I finished my classical studies in 2017, I live with my mother and I am an orphan.

I had a lot of difficulties to realize my dream, we know how difficult the reality of Haiti is which means that many young people like me can afford to fail, in my case it is not the means that I have and it's not that I'm better than these young people.

But it's thanks to KCH, I met the organization in 2019, I had an interview with them, they told me they would help me because I really need it, because I I had difficulty moving forward in terms of studies, food, and paying for housing. and other things in the times of covid-19 it was not possible.


however KCH called on me in 2021 to help me, and so far KCH has helped me a lot, they paid for a school for me where I learn auto mechanics, it was my dream without the help from KCH I could not have learned a trade because I did not have the economic means.

KCH is more than an organization, it is rather a family, a life together, where people orient themselves, they accompany people, KCH represents many things for the Haitian generation, meeting KCH your life will not be bad if you are positive and have good will because they will help you as best they can to solve all the social problems that we encounter.

Hello, my name is Djouly joseph .i am in the organization that is kids connection haiti.i live a lot of experiences with kids connection haiti as i follow a lot of wonderful information that brings a lot os fruit as knowledge .training that allows us to orient ourselves to what we must be tomorrow. Besides it cretes a recreational day on saturdays entertain us create distractions , watch movies that bring advice .and we always eat together and drink together. Kids Connection Haiti (KCH) is a wonderful organization providing much need opportunity for young adults to finish schooling, train for employment or continued education, and develop life skills. They work at such a difficult time in Haiti and provide a haven and oasis of mentorship, friendship, and support. I am so in awe of the students and how they maintain such positive attitudes thanks in no small part to the staff and leadership of KCH. Just the fact that KCH exists giving them this chance to succeed in life empowers them and inspires us. Kudos to Astrid for her meaningful work in a difficult time.

Astrid and her team at KCH do amazing work with the youth of Haiti. They change lives and lift up these young men and women to pursue education and follow their dreams. For me KCH is a beacon of hope. after my classical studies I could not go further with my studies. in 2015 I had the chance to meet KCH which gave me hope. After five years of university studies, I was able to realize my dream of becoming a civil engineer. it is thanks to the KCH supporters that my dream has come true. Fantastic organization working to create futures for at risk youth in Haiti through education and health care

Kids Connection Haiti does an amazing job at helping Haitians achieve their potential, whether it be in a technical or academic field. The connections made are immeasurable in terms of worth.

From meeting founder Astrid Fitzgerald as she was forming Kids Connection Haiti in 2009, it was evident she was a woman on a mission. Knowing first hand the problem with kids aging out of orphanages, she set about to create a safety net to help them navigate to independence. I've supported the organization through out the years and have sponsored a young person. Haiti a country of endless sorrow, can find hope through KCH. She gives kids the lift they need, when they need it.

KCH has to be one of the most 100% volunteer based stable nonprofit organization I've come across in a long time. The Executive Board and the founder, Astrid de Vries work countless hours and unrelentlessly to uphold the KCH mission. This is not an easy undertaking but they are making it happen.

KCH serves an often-ignored but highly vulnerable demographic - teenagers and young adults. As a mom to two teenagers, I know how important it is to support young people as they transition to adulthood, and KCH speaks to my very heart. The work they do is highly specific and impactful, e.g. securing dentures for a young man who was missing teeth, allowing him to regain his confidence. Think about that - trying to have a social life (much less professional life) - without teeth. KCH works to make the world a better place, one young person at a time.

I'm gratefull to help the Haitian youngsters via KCH. KCH stands for so much. They really help young people create a future, not only for themselves and their families, but also for the country.

I have known Astrid for 15 years and KCH since it's inception in 2010. I volunteered as a nurse in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and met many young Haitians. Several of them translated for me while working there. Afterwards, I wanted to send the translators to school to increase their odds of having a successful lucrative life. Astrid's programs ensured this and several of them were successfully put through her program and now are living fuller lives with a trade to earn a better wage and give back to the Haitian community. Her program is well run, thoughtfully and professionally executed and gave me the security that the money I gave to put these young people through their education was used directly for them. I continue to support her program for other young people to be educated in Haiti. I can't speak highly enough about Astrid and Kid's Connection Haiti!!!

This organization is run by individuals who are incredibly attentive to the needs of the individual students. Not only do I feel my contribution is thoughtfully and wisely distributed, I am continually reassured that the staff is available and supportive of its students. Most importantly, when I become aware of an issue with my sponsored student, I am able to personally contact the right staff members and always always receive timely responses. This personal contact with all staff at KCH reassures me this is the most effective use of my contribution. A big bonus is the relationship I am able to have with my sponsored student, and I am frequently able to see the personal impact it makes.

This organization is making an amazing difference in the lives of young adults in Haiti, empowering them to change their futures and overcome the odds against them! The founder is dedicated and passionate, and all of the team members are truly dedicated to the kids they serve. I'm so impressed with the work they do.

Kids Connection Haiti is a great nonprofit doing life-saving work in the world. Their founder and leader is one of the most passionate people I've had the good fortune to know. She loves Haiti and believes in a brighter future for some of its most vulnerable citizens - young people who are too old to live in orphanages or are ready to stop living on the street. Astrid and her team are providing these kids with the training and support they need to live a much different life than many of their counterparts. KCH is an amazing non-profit, with a dedicated team in Haiti, Washington DC, and Canada. I have had to privilege to already have been involved with organization for 8 years, first as a volunteer and now as a board member. I met several of our students in Haiti and have experienced their personal growth first hand. I’m very proud of all they achieve in situation a that at times are very challenging. Kids Connection Haiti provides very targeted support to help educate at-risk Haitian youth. A few years ago, many current KCH students did not have secure housing, food or jobs. They had few to no economic opportunities. Now, however, these same young adults are pursuing their dreams. I appreciate that KCH students have worked so hard to make their goals a reality. I also like that proceeds to KCH overwelmingly go to defray educational costs. The organization is very lean. There is no luxurious office. There is no fleet of cars. There are no exorbitant salaries. A dollar donated to KCH directly helps a student in need finish high school, vocational school or university. I firmly believe that my donations have helped these deserving people to have a more secure future.

I have been working as a Youth Development consultant for an NGO in Haiti for the last two and a half years and met with Astrid Fitzgerald on many occasions.
Her Kids Connection Haiti Program works with and for many young adults that I know.
KCH makes the difference in their lives !

Astrid has lived in Haiti for many years and knows what these young adults are going through, what their needs are and what difficulties they have to overcome. She knows the troubles of the country.
With a simple, very effective philosophy she built a small but slowly growing organization were each one who gets help, gets a better change in live !

Astrid's heart is in Haiti. She is not only passionate about her work but she also has clear goals and knows how she wants to get there. KCH financial donations all benefits the young adults education or microcredit for business.
But equally important is the emotional support these young adults get through regular meetings, workshops and seminars.

I volunteered for KCH for two months in Port-au-Prince, Haiti during the summer of 2012. I was lucky enough to be given this great opportunity to go to Haiti and spend time with the wonderful students KCH and its donors sponsor. In Haiti, I taught English classes 3 days a week to KCH students and to neighborhood kids. I also helped out our local coordinator with various tasks. it was my second trip to Haiti, but my first working in a development country. I keep saying that I couldn't have had a better experience. With KCH, I was able to dive into a different workplace, learning so much more about myself, Haitians and Haiti. I was challenged in my work but also in my daily life, which always kept things interesting for me. The KCH team is made of hard-working and caring people. They helped me make my experience in Haiti an unforgettable one. I would encourage anyone to work with KCH, you won't regret it.

I have been helping out in KCH for almost a month and am happy to be in such a creative, easy-going and loving environment. The team members and leaders are not only inspiring professionals but they are good and caring human beings that show their efforts with the dedication that they put into the organization's mission. I volunteered for KCH for 6 months in 2010-11 when the organization was establishing itself on the ground in Haiti. The work that KCH does for young adults in providing them with education and social support is exceptional, and the way that the organization works is rare. KCH puts almost its entire operating budget towards providing for the young adults in the program, and it exponentially improves the opportunities that these young adults have to succeed. I would fully recommend working with the organization in whatever capacity available.

I work in Kids Connection Haiti since mid-September, 2012. This job helps me get familiar with crowd funding, grant searching, and many new projects that I never got a chance to know in the university campus before. Besides, the job also helps me get in touch with society more profoundly, at least it gives me a clearer idea on how non-profit organization runs. I therefore highly recommend Kids Connection Haiti, for, as a volunteer here, not only you would obtain more knowledge about Haiti but also a stronger feeling of your being as a member of your own society, a society from which you are benefited and to which you are to benefit.

I currently work in the Washington D.C. office of KCH. It's only been a few months work of work but I have had the great pleasure of working with such motivated and dedicated people who are passionate about seeing improvment in Haiti. It is humbling to have had the honor to work with people as dedicated as those that assist at Kids Connection Haiti. The mission of KCH is one which truly transforms lives through the most self-sustaining process known--education. Kids Connection Haiti and Global Impact Collective have a had a wonderful relationship and I would encourage other volunteers and individuals to get involved with a group so set on positively impacting the lives of Haitians through education.

I spent a week in Haiti volunteering with KCH with my 16 yr old in June and it was the trip of a lifetime. The local coordinator guided us each day through the towns via tap tap so we could experience the daily life of Haitians in their efforts to survive and thrive. The simple idea of providing tuition, uniforms, and other supplies or necessities, as well as connections for networking for jobs, is brilliant and very, very practical. We are now sponsoring a student whom we met during workshops I taught on resilience for the students. The entire program offers a platform to mentor every person involved. We plan to go back as often as possible. The entire group was so warm, gracious, and eager. Astrid Fitzgerald is the real deal: selfless, realistic, and undaunted. I would do anything I could for them.

I like to get involved with nonprofits where the founder is not just passionate about a cause, but also has a sharp focus and smart administration. I'm a huge fan of Kids Connection Haiti - and donate regularly -- because it zeroes in on a group that is often overlooked: older orphans who don't have the family supports to help them become economically independent. KCH offers financial tuition support, life skills training, and business mentoring, and fills the gap that these young people need in order to stand up on their own two feet. Founder Astrid Fitzgerald lived in Haiti for years, so she knows the society well and is realistic about her goals. She puts every penny towards the kids, runs her operation on a shoe string, and is wisely trying to grow the organization slowly and methodically. As a donor, I became a sponsor to a young woman who is nursing school, and received a letter from her, in addition to updates from Astrid, so I know exactly where and to whom my donations are going. I'm really proud to support Kids Connection Haiti, and I hope more people can become supporters!

I am volunteering with Kids Connection Haiti and it is life-changing. Kids Connection Haiti is focusing on post orphanage services, offers technical advice and financial support for education and livelihoods, contributing to sustainable, independent lives. I am working from the DC office and support the organization in various fields to grow and support the Haitian based initiatives including research, logistics, sponsorship management, fundraising and general office/administrative. My work is exciting and very rewarding. The Kids Connection Haiti team is very passionate, energetic and dedicated and it is such a great feeling to be part of it and knowing that our work is changing the lives of many kids and young adults in Haiti.
