I've been both a volunteer and a consultant to nonprofits for more than 30 years. Nonprofits have come a long way, but not far enough! They must do better! KickStart International is an excellent example of how nonprofits need to learn to operate, and how they need to be able to measure and prove, that they are fulfilling their mission and making the very best use of their donors dollars! KickStart not only understands that they are a business; they have developed a replicable model that could work for any nonprofit. They continually demonstrate and prove, through MEASURABLE results, that fulfills their mission, goals and objectives. Their model even takes it to (what should be), the logical end goal for any nonprofit: they have an exit strategy. So that on that hopeful day, when they will have fully and completely accomplished their mission, they can close their doors and move on to some other need! (Accomplishing your mission SO well that you need no longer exist, should be the goal of every nonprofit! But few have even considered the need for an exit strategy.) KickStart seems to be doing nearly everything right! They can not only measure and prove their results, but the work that they DO is probably THE single most important work that needs to be done in our world today! KickStart moves people out of poverty. Not just for a period of time, but FOR ALL TIME! If our world is to continue in ways that we all surely hope, it will be necessary for ALL 1st world countries to come to a better understanding of what 3rd world countries most need! Though it may help for a short time, these countries do not need donations of "things", or whatever we think best. They need us to help them find ways to make their own money! So that (like us), THEY can decide what they need, be to buy it, and build their own future! THIS is what KickStart does best! They move people out of poverty FOREVER! They sell poor people the (most appropriate), tools they need (at affordable prices), that allow them to retain their pride and employ their entrepreneurial spirit. This puts money directly in THEIR hands and MOVES THEM OUT OF POVERTY, INTO THE MIDDLE CLASSS! And if we ever hope to see world that is fully democratic: where people are not FORCED to sell their votes just to feed their children, then we MUST end poverty!! For nearly 2 decades, KickStart International has studied the problem of poverty WHERE it exists! They then developed a replicable model with high standards and appropriate methods, and IT WORKS!! I strongly suggest you check out their website to learn more, and to read the stories of the people who are the actually beneficiaries of KickStart's methods and practices! I have long been a strong supporter of KickStart, and I will continue to be so for as long as I am able!! I also intend to do whatever I can to spread news about this remarkable organization that IS doing some of THE most important work in our world today!!!
