Mission: The mission of Kene Me-Wu, is to create pride in the people for who they are, Native Americans. To create respect for men, women, children and their right to live violence-free lives. To end violence within relationships, families, and the communities in which they live. This project is grounded in renewing and reinforcing Native American culture. To this end, we are committed to providing education to the community, assistance and support to families who are experiencing domestic violence. Violence is not acceptable. It should never be a way of life for Indigenous People. Our staff, volunteers and advocate are for families in an atmosphere that is Non-Judgmental, Confidential, Caring, and provides a safe environment.
Target demographics: Native American and/or Household due to Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault
Geographic areas served: Mariposa, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne Counties and Surrounding areas...
Programs: 24 hr. Crisis Line, Peer Counseling, Talking Circles, Court Accompaniment, TRO Assistance, ICWA & TANF Referrals, Prevention Services & Cultural Trainings, and Emergency Shelter Placement
