Mission: Junior Achievement's purpose is to strengthen communities by ensuring every child has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Results: Junior Achievement (JA) is the world's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and career choices. We provide equal access to relevant, hands-on, experiential education, community mentors, and business and civic leaders to students in grades k-12 so that they are inspired, prepared, and ready to pursue real-world opportunities.
Target demographics: JA's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed and be 100% ready for life.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In the past year alone, JA of Western PA has reached more than 71,000 local students in grades k-12.
Geographic areas served: 56 counties throughout western PA and norther WV
Programs: Capstone Programs including JA BizTown, where the theory of classroom-based economic curriculum is applied in a simulated real-world environment. There are over 30+ programs focusing on financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, locally developed programs are created to expose students to STEM education, and the skilled trades to explore a variety of career options.
