Mission: To promote the adoption by alaskans of a knowledgeable, supportive attitude toward a solution to the problems of alcohol abuse and drug dependence; to initiate, foster and operate any programs to alleviate and prevent alcoholism and drug dependence.
Programs: Community prevention is comprised of several programs including public information, education, outreach and referral programs; fas intervention (approximately 150 tests administered); elderly outreach and interventions (approximately 75 clients); and interventions & after care services (approximately 100 interventions and 15 after care clients).
alcohol safety action program provides alcohol and other drug screening, referral and compliance monitoring for adolescents (approximately 225 clients), adult court-ordered misdemeanant (approximately 150 clients), and other general public and school referrals.
school based prevention program provides support groups for high-risk students as well as youth leadership retreats, classroom education, teacher in services and teens against tobacco use programs. Approximately 3,000 students served through these programs.
