Programs: Print journal: jospt continued to conduct activities in pursuit of its mission to publish scientifically rigorous, clinically relevant content in print and online. Jospt published 101 original research articles and additional features to produce 1,381 editorial pages during the year. In october 2016, jospt published a special issue on whiplash that has been well received within and beyond the physical therapy profession. Half of the papers published during the past year came from authors in countries outside the united states. Jospt's strong impact factor continued to produce more new and resubmitted manuscripts for peer review in 2016, a total of 1,060 papers. Jospt again partnered with the journal of bone & joint surgery, inc. (jbjs) to produce two webinars about injured anterior cruciate ligaments (acls) and basilar thumb arthritis, based on recent research published in jospt and jbjs. In both instances approximately 2,000 attendees participated live or watched each of these webinars on demand. Jospt and jbjs also engaged in a monthly online article exchange to further expose their physical therapist and orthopaedic surgeon readers, respectively, to a broader range of published research. Online journal: in 2016, jospt used its more flexible website platform to build a website for a member organization, the orthopaedic section of the american physical therapy association for the section's independent study courses. Jospt also introduced article-level metrics on its own site, showing the impact of what the journal publishes at this level. Jospt's website traffic grew to an average of 105,425 sessions per month last year, nearly 27,000 sessions of which came from mobile devices, tablets and smartphones.
read for credit continuing education program: some 4,975 quizzes have been completed since rfc launched in november 2007, helping individuals who take them earn the continuing education credits required to renew their state licensures as physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. Jospt again created a package of five quizzes in connection with the journal's special issue on whiplash in october, effectively using read for credit to further translate research to clinical practice.
publishing services for other organizations: jospt signed an agreement in 2015 to provide publishing services to one of the organization's two members, the orthopaedic section of the american physical therapy association. Jospt finished building a website for the section's independent study course (isc) program, again leveraging jospt's own website to create this new resource for physical therapists and other related healthcare professionals. This new isc site launched in january 2017.
