Amazing people with the animals best interests at heart!! Located in North Carolina, we have some of the highest numbers for rescues and shelters to handle. In the face of all this, jcapl continues to push forward in helping so many animals in need!!
I have fostered with jcapl for a little over two years and have had the pleasure of helping many dogs and puppies. However my contribution pales in comparison to what the amazing people do every day to keep animals safe and loved. They helped me take in an abandoned senior dog and got him the care, love, and attention he needed, including surgery within a day to help relieve pressure on his eyes. He is now in a loving and forever home, along with so many more.
What they do is short of miraculous and I can't say enough about how inspired I am by their unwavering dedication!!

I have fostered and adopted from JCAPL. I can say that this organization really cares about their animals. They make sure that the adopters are fully vetted and that each animal goes to a good home. The adoption fee is around $200 and includes them all being current on shots, heartworm and flee meds and they are fixed. That price stays the same for pets that cost thousands in medical care as well. They are still cheaper than most organizations and the fee is less than a vet visit for Everton that's included. They are good to the fosters and provide everything we need for the animals we care for. They are so dedicated to the animals that they foster that there is a refund policy if the pet isn't a good fit. They will take any animal that was adopted out back, for any reason, to insure that it finds the right home and the adopters find the right fit. Great organization!

We took in an abused pit mix with her newborn pups. JCAPL found loving homes for all of the pups. We still foster mom and JCAPL is at our side every step of the way with a wonderful helpful and friendly staff!

We have adopted 5 dogs from this rescue! The fosters obviously love their animals. This group truly has the animals well being at heart and is a light in the darkness of the rescue world!

I'm a foster and adopter for JCAPL. The rescue strives to find the best homes for their cats and dogs. All fur kids ate spaued/neutered and up to date on vaccines. They also deworm and microchip all foster cats and dogs. Each cat orcdig lives with their foster family. We work on setting everyone up for a successful adoption.

We started fostering and then adopting with this organization in 2019.
After countless fosters and 3 adoptions, we are happy to be a part of such a caring and loving organization.
They are the first to say yes when I call and want to foster another puppy that has been abandoned.
They take the time to ensure the pupppies, kittens, dogs and cats find their forever homes. They don’t leave a “mama” dog behind just because she may have issues and be hard to adopt. They currently have several long time fosters because the perfect home hasn’t been found after months and sometimes years. They leave none behind.
JCAPL truly cares and loves the animals and the volunteers.
It is one big family spreading joy one dog or cat at a time.

After the last of my pack passed away in 2023, I decided to start fostering dogs in 2024. After researching people’s experiences with local groups, I applied to JCAPL and two other groups. JCAPL was the first to follow up with me and approve me to Foster. I received my first foster dog in January 2024, and am currently fostering my third.
Fostering and volunteering with JCAPL for the past year has been an absolutely fantastic experience since then. They are 100% dedicated to the care, support, and placement of the cats and dogs under their care. The foster team is very supportive of each other. I wholeheartedly recommend this group for volunteer and adoption.

I am a foster and love this organization. They care for the animals and their well being. They put the animal first. They take every precaution to ensure the safety of the animal (cats and dogs) . I will continue to foster for this organization. I have never been part of an organization that puts so much caring and love into the rescue of animals.

JCAPL is an unethical, unscrupulous, unprincipled, and inhumane organization. The people that run it have NO respect for an animal or a human! Just a horrible experience! Unfortunately I was the 1 in 3 of lost dogs as their literature says. My dog escaped the fenced yard through a small opening that I did not know was there. Fortunately the dog was captured safely and returned to my home as instructed by the foster. The next day the dog was taken back which was the worst thing to do to the poor animal that was recovering, resting, and feeling safe. I did not get a call from foster to let me know the dog was found, as the chip had foster information, nor was I contacted to find out how the dog was doing! Contacted the board to have an investigation and after two long weeks of me trying to contact them several times, they denied my request. Guess who has the dog after being told I would never be able to have her but would help in finding another dog... The most important thing is the dog is safe!

This organization was horrible about answering messages, had inaccurate information on their website, and made it very obvious that they did not care about their pets enough to respond to emails regarding application processing, specific questions about certain pets, or anything. The one contact that did occur was very negative in nature, and that occurred nearly a week after I began trying to contact them. They NEVER emailed me back or answered messages about the cat I was interested in, and they truly proved to me that they had no value in me as an applicant. I had much better interactions with other organizations, and have been offered numerous appointments with pets from other organizations. This organization truly let me down, and I feel bad for the pets being cared for through it. I hope they don’t spend all their lives in foster care.

I have been a "foster mom", in the past two years of roughly 14 rescue's. Two of those my family and I adopted as our furever pets. The other 12 where all adopted by wonderful families. Knowing that JCAPL is there to help the lost, injured, dumped and abused animals. I am grateful for every dog that comes into my life. Being able to help a dog heal from whatever situation brought it into my life is a humbling experience.

JCAPL is a great animal rescue group. They have huge hearts and are ready to help animals in need. They take excellent care of the animals in their programs and actively seek great families for those animals. Professionally, JCAPL is easy to work with and always willing to lend a helping hand for the benefit of the animals.

My first experience with the Protection League was in 2014 before I became involved in the support role in animal programs and services. A pregnant cat came to my home and during birth had experienced major complications. They took over care of the cat and kittens. They placed them in good homes after the fact. As a professional, I began a lost and found program in a neighbor county, and the Protection League was a wonderful in support and partnership in placement of animals found in Johnston County or would act as a partner on issues where jurisdiction of two different counties would not allow cooperation. They supported our lost and found in the infancy of the program. Our lost and found has grown to my role being expanded to include Friends of Wayne County Animals (NC) and Wayne County Lost and Found 4 Dogs NC. We have 10,300 followers, and very active programs in Wayne County.

No of this success would be possible without Stephanie and the Protection League. They are the most compassionate over the humane treatment of animals and the most powerful and effective non-profit in the area that is outside a traditional rescue. A great nonprofit wants to insure their success, but the success of others is important to their organization. The selfless organization role is a paramount reason that Johnston County Animal Protection League is an outstanding nonprofit.

I have been a volunteer as a cat/kitten foster and special events helper with Johnston County Animal Protection League for about 6 years. The people I have worked with have been outstanding. From the president to the volunteers work with a great commitment to our cause. It's all about the animals. Any time I've had a question, needed supplies or a vet appointment for a sick foster I get immediate help. We are well known and never fail to stay in touch with the community. We adopt, fund raise, hold microchip clinics and do dog washes. We are very community involved including assisting low income families with the cost of spaying and neutering. We rock!!
