My giving story: I work with a small rescue and rehabilitation organization, that works with abandoned and abused pitbulls. I start every morning off by drinking a cup of coffee (which I have to microwave at least twice because I lose my cup lol) As I go on the hunt for my cup, I am also walking, socializing, training, befriending, and loving these amazing dogs. I am answering phone calls from desperate owners, giving advice to people needing training help, and advising people that find injured or lost dogs as to what to do next. Not many days go by, where I'm not at the vets office with an animal, weither it be to do routine stuff, to get meds for cases we're currently treating, or for emergency situations, and surgeries.

Some of these dogs come to us broken, others completely shut off to the world. The goal for us is the same, but how we reach that end goal...all depends on the dog, and what they're comfortable with. We aim to see each and every one of these amazing dogs successfully rehabbed, and into forever homes, where they will only know love and comfy beds from there on out. The sad part of rescue, that not many get to see, is that some of these guys that come to us, never leave because of the trauma and abuse they went through. Sometimes we can fix the bodies, but the heart and mind don't always agree, and helping them realize they are now safe and will never be hurt again, isn't always easy,

So, they stay with me until they cross the rainbow bridge as old and grey dogs. On top of my rescue work, we also run our communities pet food pantry. I came up with the idea, because we had so many families calling our organization to surrender their dogs, simply because they couldn't afford to feed them. So, we provide these families with free pet food (when we have it donated, or when I have the funds to go and personally purchase it.) We have at least three times now, also gotten to provide people food to these families as well! Thanks to the amazing volunteers I work with, everyone grabbed a few things from their own pantries! I know our chances of winning are slim to none, because there are so many other great entries, but I am thankful to be able to at least share my giving story...well, my rescues giving story.
