Causes: Civil Rights, Women, Womens Rights
Mission: Established in 2004, ion is the national consortium whose mission is to increase the number of women appointed to corporate boards and to the executive suite. Representing nearly half of the 28 million women in management and professional roles across the nation, ion is the only confederation of member organizations in the us engaged in this work. Through its annual research reports, the sharing of best practices, thought leadership and board search referrals, ion provides a national platform and voice for collaboration, education, advocacy, and outreach for the advancement of women across corporate america.
Programs: Information clearinghouse: ion provided monthly updates on research relevant its mission and distributed that information to a mailing list of member organizations and interested individuals. Ion also maintained a website which was updated regularly and served as a ready reference for its member organizations and the general public.
member services: ion provided information, training and support to its 8 member organizations and their members
outreach: ion participated in multiple conferences related to its mission, providing research data and facilitating conversations regarding the strategies to get more women in business leadership. Ion also supported the work of affiliated organizations that share ion's mission through membership dues and participation.
