My main IFM connection has been as a volunteer English as a Second Language teacher for the last 5 or so years. (That was also my career in the school system for 21 years.). I love meeting and welcoming people , and I love filling their real need of feeling comfortable in our country. We have a wonderful time together as we learn about Christ, learn vocabulary, improve reading and writing, and definitely become more comfortable speaking and understanding. (Of course, I sneak grammar in there, too!) Fun Games together add to their learning and understanding, too!
Our family has enjoyed hosting International students and soldiers through International Friendship Ministries. They have provided opportunities for us to influence individuals with the gospel before they return to their homeland. It is like having a mission trip abroad but in reverse as they are coming to us and learning our culture and we learn their culture.
