Mission: The organization's primary mission is to sponsor educational and professional development programs concerning resistance to intolerance and protection of minorities in the united states and european democratic societies.
Programs: Humanity in action's core programs are the humanity in action fellowship and the john lewis fellowship. These are month-long educational programs for emerging leaders about the national histories and contemporary politics of diversity, pluralism and human and minority rights in europe and the u. S. The annual programs bring together 144 university students and young professionals from bosnia and herzegovina, denmark, france, germany, greece, the netherlands, poland, turkey, ukraine and the united states for an intensive series of seminars, discussions, site visits and an annual conference that includes all european program participants. Following the programs, each participant is obliged to create and implement an action project--an outreach initiative in the participant's home community--which builds upon the values and ideas of the programs.
