Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: To provide basic services (clean water, sanitation and energy) and empowerment services (business skills training, microcredit, a wi-fi, health kiosk, and a green market place) to slums around the world through the creation of replicable, self-sustaining town centers.
Programs: Human needs project has built their pilot project - the town center - to provide infrastructure for opportunity in kibera (nairobi, kenya), one of the largest slums in africa. The town center provides basic services (water, toilets, showers, laundry) and empowerment services (business skills training, micro credit, wi-fi cafe, health kiosk and a green market place). These intigrated services provide a holistic solution to the challenges of living in a slum. Together, they can help people with a road map to creating a better life. At the heart of the town center: innovation, community and sustainability.
