Programs: Service dog training and placement: performed monthly training and meetings for volunteers and for prior service dog recipients. Accepted new applications for service dog placement and began client specific training. Held service dog training classes at west virginia university in the spring, summer, and fall semesters with 30 students in each class. Established a service dog training program in collaboration with staff of the federal correctional institute morgantown. Provided dogs and staff to train incarcerated veterans. 54 individuals were in the program for the year.
rehabilitation and special education (disability awareness): held presentations and participated in various community events provided weekly training with youth in a drug rehabilitation program at chestnut ridge behavioral medicine center for 1 hour each week. Attended various community events and fairs and visits to local schools to introduce service dogs to the community and educate on the place of service dogs in the community. quarry meadows at jasmine acres: the long-term goal of the organization is to expand its mission and to establish a model, all-inclusive community with special emphasis on elders, adolescents previously in foster care, and individuals with disabilities. The organization currently holds land with a few structures that will be used in the community.
