Programs: The mvwc provided pregnancy information, support, and parenting education to 2,640 women and 571 men. This includes parenting education for women and men; support for women and men who have experienced a miscarriage or infant death; and abortion recovery that provides a safe environment for healing from a past abortion. Parenting courses for women include prenatal development, infant care, making the home safe, how to calm a fussy baby, the dangers of alcohol, shaken baby syndrome, developing healthy relationships, and setting boundaries. Men's parenting courses instruct clients regarding infant care, swaddling (to calm a baby), making formula, taking a temperature, and car seat safety. Both male and female clients earned credits through the form of "baby bucks" for attending classes, completing homework, and additional assignments. Upon completion of a five- or ten-week course, clients can spend the "bucks" on baby items. Five week courses were also provided to parents who were mandated to court-ordered parenting classes. Approximately 1,300 men and women were educated through a parenting course or supported through a recovery and healing program.
