Stay The Course has partnered in the community with Honor Courage Commitment, Inc. for the past two years collaborating to help veterans transition from the military by providing education, guidance, resources and support. We are proud to call them partners and fellow advocates for veterans!
My name is Stephen and I am in the Fellows Class 161 at Honor Courage Commitment. (HCC)
This is an entrepreneur class for veterans that are wanting to start a business. HCC should be commended for the program, it is truly a life changing opportunity and I am so blessed to be a part of this program. I am learning how to be a successful business owner. The support from the HCC staff and instructors are second to none. I can't thank you enough for bringing my dreams into fruition and pushing me out of my comfort zone and into a confident entrepreneur.
Thank you,
Stephen Martinez

Shortly after retirement from the Air Force, I considered starting my own business. I learned about Honor Courage and Commitment (HCC) from another veteran who was successful in starting his own business. He spoke VERY highly about HCC and credited HCC with helping him get the training, exposure and with networking which enabled him to get his business going. I applied and was accepted. My expectations of the program have all been realized and I am finally at a point where I know I will succeed with my business. Although a majority of the training is focused on the technical aspects of starting and running a business there are other development classes which really help put thing into perspective. One of the key benefits have been the guest speakers who range from small business owners to major business owners all providing a valuable and realistic perspective of what we need to do to be successful. I can say without a doubt that I WILL be successful in growing my business which I recently started.
When I first came to Honor Courage Committment (HCC), I had a limited knowledge on starting and running my own business. But with the resources HCC provided like the SMU Cox School of Business, web design, business attorneys, and unlimited business networks to name a few, I am well on my way of starting my first business adventure. HCC has given me the confidence and resources to succeed in my business endeavors. Plus the fact that I will always be connected with HCC for future resources makes HCC priceless.
HCC is an outstanding organization empowering veterans by providing them the training, mentorship, and support needed to lead here in our community. I work at a local nonprofit supporting veterans and military families. We have benefitted tremendously from the community service component of the HCC Fellowship program. Not only have the HCC Fellows invested their time and sweat to support our organization, but they have served as models of successful transition for the veterans and military family members whom we serve. We are honored to partner with HCC and appreciate what this amazing organization is doing to strengthen our community.
HCC has helped countless veterans find a new purpose during their transition from military to civilian life. Through education, mentoring, and volunteerism, HCC creates the springboard many veterans need to propel them into the next phase of their life.
I'm currently going through HCC's fellowship program and it is beyond any expectations I had before starting! The program has giving me the resources, training, and mentoring to ensure success with the business I am starting! They are gunuine and passionately dedicated to serving and empowering veterans.
My experience with this non-profit is beyond remarkable. Honor Courage Commitment / 22KILL changed my life. They took me in when I was homeless and in a desperate time trying to attend school and was still struggling mentally.
They took me in and offered me a make-over and an internship in which I was held accountable for my actions even when I made mistakes. They showed me the value of true-love for humanity and that everyone of us is remarkable and that Veterans are already the elite even though many Veterans struggle.
With the non-profits help I was able to rebuild my confidence that I lost and had a project for homeless people in which community was a big part. I felt empowered, that I had a purpose again and that I was valued and not forgotten like so many others.
I learned the three core values that they teach in their Entrepreneurs class which are:
1. Education
2 Mentor-ship
3. Community Service
Those three principles allowed me to attend some of the many classes that the offered in their program to include business, brain performance training and also etiquette classes which I so much needed.
What the staff at the non-profit taught me was that I was valued and that they loved me for who I was when no one else did. I was still a brother in arms even though I had made some mistakes which they held me accountable. I was able to attend volunteering sessions that I normally would not have been privy to which showed me the value of giving back anyway you can. Purpose.
The organization also paid for my room and board for a year so that I was able to focus on school and getting on my feet again from being homeless. I was able to obtain employment through connections I made that the organization prepared me for by mock interviews, resume writing and professional development. I am truly thankful for the time and donor dollars that they invested in me because they believed in my ability to better myself. What I learned along the way were life lessons I still follow.
I strongly recommend this organization to any Veteran whether they are in business or just wanting to reconnecting with a cause greater than them. They love you for the great Veteran that you are and also that you want to be.

Good day everyone,
HCC nonprofit is great and they are putting veterans in position to start
their own business in industries that the fellows are pursuing. I would encourage
any type of veteran that want's hi or her own business to visit the HCC website and review the criteria's for the entrepreneur training. The more veterans opening new business and running them then we will see more veterans getting hired because veterans hire veterans and that's a fact.
Thank you
I can't begin to express how much HCC and 22KILL have opened up my eyes and lit a fire in me. Keep doing what you do guys. I'm so proud and honored to wear the Honor Ring.

HCC is an outstanding organization who's one of many purposes is to empower veterans for success. HCC readily and charitably gives veterans the tools and skills they need in order to succeed in whatever business endeavor the veteran pursues. I personally am attending the 22fellows program, an entrepreneurial centered program designed to help veterans see their visions come to fruition. The course is exceptional, and incorporates highly successful entrepreneurial guest speakers, personal incubator workshop time, networking events, and an entrepreneurial class at the SMU cox school of business. As a combat veteran like so many, I have many personal issues i deal with on a day to day basis; PTSD, depression, anxiety ect. HCC has shown nothing but complete support in making sure I am taken care of and have everything I need in order to succeed. The Men and Women at HCC genuinely care about each and every one of us, and take time out of their personal schedules to make sure we are well and supported. HCC has exceeded my expectations, and I will forever be in their debt for helping me succeed in my Non-Profit Organization. These people truly care, and wish to make a difference not only int he veteran community, but also the world.

I first learned about HCC and #22Kill when I was at a local festival with my kids last September and it has truly been life changing. In November of 2014 I had my first interview with Mike Jernigan and Clifford Sosamon, for the 22Fellows program through HCC. I was accepted in to the program in January. Just 5 months after that fateful day at the festival, my life is completely different and far better for having learned about #22Kill and HCC, and I consider myself blessed to be a part of this amazing organization of veterans helping veterans. I cannot say enough good things about Andy Nguyen and the rest of the veterans who have come together to eliminate the stigma that has begun to be associated with the word "veteran". Their goal to help veterans change PTSD to PTG (post-traumatic growth) is having an incalculable impact on my life and of the other Fellows in this program. As this program continues to grow I can only imagine the ripple effect on our communities and the world. HCC has awakened the marine in me again and made me realize that I can overcome and adapt to whatever comes my way...and I can make lemonade out of my lemons.

It's been an honor to serve with Honor Courage Commitment. They not only care about the veterans they serve in their 22Fellows entrepreneurial education program but also the people in their community. HCC's President Andy Nguyen is not only the visionary and brain behind this organization, he is a mentor, a leader, and a role model for so many he encounters. He is the prime example of what his Fellowship Program does. His long-term goals for this nonprofit far exceed expectations, and with so many advocates of Honor Courage Commitment, more and more people are becoming aware of the statistic that 22 veterans take their lives every day. HCC just takes it one step further to say- We have a solution to change that.

There is not much I can say that will accurately describe how amazing this organization really is. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of the HCC family.
I've been with this organization for almost 3 years, and there is no better sense of purpose than knowing that you are a part of something that does so much good in the community and affects so many people's lives in a positive way. I am lucky to be surrounded by good people and to be able to see good deeds being done on a daily basis.
Working with HCC allows me to maintain the esprit de corps with my military brothers and sisters of all branches. It provides me the opportunity to serve those who have served and to give back to the community. Most importantly, HCC gives me a sense of purpose that goes beyond one’s self.
I first got in contact with HCC when i was looking for more work to supplement my fledgeling website design business. After a couple of months of discussion with the organization, I applied for the "Starting a Business" class through SMU provided by a grant from HCC that led to my pivoting toward a new career vector all together. I have been welcomed with open arms into a group of supportive veterans and other amazing veteran-friendly organizations that understand both veteran capabilities and needs. I could not be happier with the relationships I have made and the areas of growth that have been presented to me since getting involved here at HCC. This is a top-notch organization and I would be much further along if I had found HCC as soon as I got out of the military over a year ago after serving ten years.
HCC strives to represent the very best our veteran community has to offer. It's a place where core values mean something and every volunteer, participant, and leader holds each other accountable daily. From the outside looking in you will never understand the friendships that are formed through a community of veterans and supporters committed to continue their service over self. Andy is an innovative leader that consistently strives to create new opportunity for veterans to become self supportive and and the next generation of business men and women. Although still and infant in years, HCC is generations ahead of solving current veteran issues with lasting solutions that far surpass the band-aide that the media would place upon our nations greatest asset- our people and those that fight to protect them. Come behind the scenes and visit HCC's for a glimpse into the daily workings of a small non profit with boundless potential!
Having only been a part of HCC for a short time, it's very obvious HCC holds true to its values: Honor, Courage, Commitment. Being a civilian in a Veterans' world, I am inspired daily by the heart and dedication of the men who work with HCC.
I've known Andy for many years now, which is why i'm not surprised at what an insanely amazing organisation HCC has become.
Im blessed to be a part of the inner workings of HCC and this stuff is GENUINE. Helping veterans with education, mentoring & community service are not just words, these are real actions that happen every day in that office.
The biggest achievement HCC has accomplished is that they have figured out a way of keeping politics out of the MOST politicised issue possible, this allows them to execute on their mission at a level that is unimaginable.
HCC is making a real difference everyday to many veterans. I encourage everyone to pay a visit & see for yourself, worst case you get a #22kill Honor ring out of it.
Honor Courage Commitment, Inc. has made my transition from active duty so seamless. I am fortunate enough to still have the camaraderie that i had while on active duty. The staff at HCC has welcomed me with open arms into a community of organizations in the DFW metroplex that continue to serve veterans. The HCC team provides vital mentorship, educational guidance, and facilitates community involvement on so many levels.
I was a lucky candidate that was selected to receive a monthly stipend to supplement my income under Operation Enduring Education program. This humble stipend helped relieve some stress associated with finances as a returning college student.
This Veteran organization truly embodies the core values for which it is named: Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
All of the programs that I have attended through HCC have been very fulfilling! You are able to work with veterans who have made a difference on the battlefields and back here in the US. Veterans helping veterans and also citizens supporting veteran nonprofit programs.
