Programs: This year homeshare vermont worked with 1,010 people who wanted to stay in their homes or who were looking for an affordable place to live. As part of our comprehensive screening and matching process, we conducted over 2,200 background checks, 1,500 reference and landlord checks and facilitated over 131 in-home introductions between potential matches. We served 198 people in homesharing matches during the year. In those matches, homesharers received an affordable place to live, paying an average rent of only $287/month by exchanging nearly 27,000 hours of assistance to those individuals who shared their homes. Over 50% of those who shared their homes reported they would not be able to live at home safely and comfortably without a homesharer. Homeshare vermont serves a low income population as evidenced by 82% of those applying had incomes considered low income according to federal standards.
