Results: HIPPY USA, located in Little Rock, AR, was established as an independent non-profit organization in 1988 to promote and guide the development of the HIPPY program in the United States. Currently, there are 116 independent HIPPY program sites operating in 19 states and the District of Columbia, serving almost 16,000 children and their families. HIPPY is a home-based program for parents with children ages two, three, four and five. The HIPPY curricula, available in both English and Spanish, include 30 weekly activity packets, storybooks, manipulative shapes and other teaching materials. The curricula are focused on specific school readiness skills including visual discrimination, phonemic awareness, pre-math concepts, self-concept, creativity, problem-solving, and logical thinking. The parents who participate in the program spend approximately 15 to 20 minutes per day teaching their children by using the HIPPY activity packets and books.
