Mission: The holistic development community center is a community-based, multi-service, non-profit organization that provides a variety of programs and services to enhance the quality of life for individuals, families and the environment in the greater detroit metropolitan area. The holistic development community center's programs are: collaborative, building upon the collective assets of the community, and holistic, emphasizing the importance of the whole, as well as the interdependence of its parts.
Programs: 2010 community projects: free income tax service - a yearly event that services detroiters. Federal, state and local income tax processed. Program presented in collaboration with united way of southwestern michigan. Circulation day - an annual event with is a joint effort with detroit unity temple. Free gently used items such as clothes, toys, household items, books are made available to the public. Over 50 volunteers organize and make these items available to more than 250 participants in need. 2010 neighborhood day event - hdcc collaborated with volunteers from a neighboring church to host a fun-filled afternoon for over 300 children from the local community. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, children receive free school supplies from scissors to pencils, pens, rulers, dictionaries and backpacks. .
