Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: The hilton head reef foundation, a subsidiary of the hilton head island sportfishing club is dedicated to the enhancement and protection of marine fisheries that are significant to the recreational and charter fishing communities. The foundation is a supporter of cooperative fisheries research by both state and private entities which improves the ability of our fisheries managers and fishermen to effectively and rationally make decisions about the most sustainable use of our marine natural resources. The foundation also assumes the role as the primary non governmental marine fisheries educational liaison to the public.
Programs: Waddell mariculture center- supports public tour program, community outreach, emergency repairs, summer intern funding, dolphin and sea turtle stranding program, and local fisheries research.
public education- sponsors meetings to provide research results and forums affecting our local fisheries and fishermen.
dolphinfish research program- supports efforts by cooperative science services for atlantic dolphinfish research.
