Causes: Environment, Garden Clubs
Mission: The purpose of the club shall be the same as that of the garden club of america. The purpose of the garden club of america is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings and conferences,correspondence and publications and to restore, improve and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fileds of conversation and civic improvement.
Programs: Community outreach held a free floral design workshop at the local public library, and created floral arrangements for an assisted living home for the elderly twice this year. Conservation committee removed non-native plants at coyote point as part of the garden club of americas partners for plants project. This committee also participated in the annual california coastal clean-up day. Horticulture committee held 2 workshops on plant propagation and organized a tour of an aquaponic farm. This committee also contributed labor to harvest garden, a community garden that provides produce to shelters. Floral design committee held three workshops. The club sent representatives to garden club of america conferences on national and state legislative affairs. The club also sent representatives to a horticulture conference offered by garden club of america.
