I have been donating to and volunteering with Heartfelt Tidbits (HFT) for 8 years. Money goes directly to the local refugees for rent, food, safe housing, medical needs, and other critical necessities. The Exec Director and teams of volunteers work compassionately with every client, making sure that the client and families have every opportunity for success in the USA. HFT has partnerships with many organizations and schools throughout Cincinnati, which provide programming (and friendships!) so that the families can acclimate and thrive.
I have admired the operations of Heartfelt Tidbits since its inception. I've been privileged to collaborate on several of their initiatives and hope to expand collaboration between Heartfelt Tidbits and The Willows Project in our shared work to support and empower resource-poor immigrant families. They are an agile, efficient, and attentive organization, as
was demonstrated when they organized a couple of massive furniture transfers this last Spring. They assembled donors, volunteers, and funds to pay labor in a shared effort that smoothly connected resources with those in need, giving essential furniture and dignity to several families. They see the larger picture in the region while focusing intensively on the families they serve, who they provide with tools and material goods they need to succeed and become independent in their new country.
Heartfelt Tidbits is a local leader in figuring out how to connect marginalized families with essential support. Governmental intervention is already grossly inadequate for the challenges of refugees and undocumented immigrants, and more and more families are facing a squeeze on affordable housing. HT is creative with the resources they gather, largely from a growing community of solidarity that HT and other organizations are building. They "make the road by walking," and I hope more and more folks doing this work locally will join us in walking with them, in their cultural community-building work as well as in their material support for immigrant families in difficult circumstances through no fault of their own.
Sheryl and her team are completely focused on their mission of welcoming our neighbors in good times and in crisis. They help other organizations carefully use their resources and try to find alternatives before cash outlays but are always willing to pitch in.
I have witnessed first hand how the Heartfelt Tidbits organization is so responsive to the needs of the community I serve. Heartfelt Tidbits is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. From paying someone's rent due to sickness, volunteer to schools, providing enrichment programs to underserve communities and the list goes on.
Heartfelt Tidbits is a real misnomer for this organization! They have made a direct impact on so many people's lives in so many ways! I really admire the wide range of activities they have initiated, from preventing eviction to studying for the citizenship test to having centers in a number of schools to provide hands-on help to parents.
What I love is their knowledge of the communities with whom they work. They are able to work collaboratively with many different groups, from Nepalese refugees to undocumented Central American immigrants. I also really respect their awareness of the social-emotional needs of these communities, so they offer opportunities for artistic endeavors, women coming together on projects and creating their own support groups, etc. Hearfelt Tidbits has also done an unusually good job of recruiting, training and keeping volunteers.
I am always astounded by the breadth of work Heartfelt Tidbits does to help families feel safe, secure, and supported as they make their way in a new and unfamiliar place. I have met and worked with amazing children, young people, and adults, both on the volunteer and client end of this nonprofit. Everyone is creative, enthusiastic, and caring. The clients clearly feel loved, as do the volunteers.
Heartfelt tidbits is the best nonprofit I’ve ever volunteered with. Each person involved is doing so much to lift up and be family to new Americans. They look at every way to help families in their journey to become a part of this country and provide so much needed guidance and support to make a new life here. They help with so much including ESL, housing, education for children, help with finding employment and matching with volunteers and neighbors to give a hard navigating challenging times. We are all so fortunate this wonderful nonprofit serves the community in the greater Cincinnati area.
Heartfelt Tidbits goes above and beyond to meet the needs of our families with supports that aid them in achieving stability.
Heartfelt Tidbits has been phenomenal in helping our faith community start an English for Speakers of Other Languages program. They have assisted in providing volunteers for teaching and driving (including car seats), lots of options for curriculum and many channels for publicity. When our students' have needs beyond the scope of what we can provide, HT has come through with resources and other supports to help our newly arrived neighbors thrive in this new environment they find themselves living in. I can't say enough about HT's willingness to go the extra mile to help immigrants and refugees!
For a relatively small non profit, Heartfelt Tidbits has made an astounding impact on the lives of local immigrants and refugees. What sets HT's apart is attentiveness to each person's goals and belief that everyone deserves the chance to create a successful life in the United States. Twice, I have witnessed moms be reunited with their kids through Heartfelt Tidbits after being separated due to immigration processes. One mom hadn't seen her 5 year old son in 3 years. These moments showed just a glimpse into how many complications immigrants and refugees face in their journeys, and how a little bit of support can change a life.
HeartfeltTidbits has been a fantastic help to my family. They do not just give us many resources but they make us feel loved and welcome, something that we lost when we fled from our countries. My family and I are so glad and grateful that HeartfeltTidbits came into our lives and helped us succeed in our new lives in the United States
So many ways this organization impacts the refugee community. It’s an honor to volunteer with an organization that truly cares for the education and wellbeing of children and families while celebrating the unique cultural identities everyone brings to this welcoming table.
