Causes: Civil Rights, Civil Rights, Social Action & Advocacy
Mission: Hands of hope resource center mission is to advocate, educate and promote societal changes for those affected by violence and abuse. In todd and morrison our clients are affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and general crime such as assault, burglary, stalking harassment, and theft. We provide confidential civil and criminal advocacy for these client as well as educational presentations, publicity and social media to elementary students to adults about prevention and reporting.
Programs: Advocacy:advocacy services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and general crime, such as: 24 hour hotline staffed by trained advocates; advocacy and support counseling for medical, law enforcement, and legal procedures, including court hearings, trials; assistance in filing order for protection or harassment restraining orders with the court; support groups for abuse survivors; emergency safe house options; community education through schools, businesses, churches, as well as professional trainings. We provided advocacy services to 372 primary and 316 secondary victims of domestic violence, 134 primary and 82 secondary victims of sexual assault, 334 primary and 217 secondary victims of child abuse, 399 primary and 56 secondary victims of general crime.
violence prevention program:during the year ended september 30, 2017 37 community education presentations were made to schools, civic groups, churches, etc. With 1,761 participants. 8 professional trainings were held for teachers, social workers, and health providers with a total of 217 participants. There 583 media contacts including public service announcements, letter to the editor, news releases, and interviews.
