Mission: Our mission is to put faith into action: habitat for humanity of burlington county and greater trenton-princeton partners with families in need and volunteers to transform lives through decent and affordable home ownership. Habitat for humanity of burlington county and greater trenton-princeton affiliate strives to be a results driven, high quality provider of affordable housing to those in need. We collaborate with all segments of the community to create affordable housing, develop responsible homeowners, and strengthen communities.
Programs: Neighborhood revitalization: the affordable homeownership program provides an opportunity for individuals and families of low-moderate income to purchase a home of their own for a 0 % interest, 20-30 year affordable mortgage. For fy 2018 we were able to support 8 families through the process of homeownership. To date we have been able to assist more than 100 families. This program works to stabilize communities by rehabbing or building homes that are affordable to rebuild a neighborhood.
restore: since 2007 hfhbcnj has operated the restore program, a retail operation that accepts new and gently used items to be resold to the public. By selling to the general public, this program offers a recycling opportunity for home goods, appliances and furniture as well as discounted building materials, keeping 100 tons of material from landfills in fy 2018. The net proceeds of the restore support the mission of building affordable homes in burlington and mercer counties.
volunteerism: as a volunteer driven organization in fy 2018 we worked with 1,254 individual volunteers and 106 volunteer organizations. In order for us to provide affordable housing to the burlington county community we depend on our volunteers in many different ways and try to match their talents to our needs. Our volunteers can donate their time once, twice or hundreds of times. In addition to construction, there are a variety of projects available from helping in our retail facility (called the restore), to serving on a committee, to lending a hand in the office and more. Every volunteer is valued and no task is too small. Our youth volunteers who are under the age of 15 are encouraged to sponsor tool drives and to make lunches for our construction crew.
