Mission: The mission of urban ministry is to express the love of god to people in need through practical action in the greater greensboro area.
Programs: Food bank - redistributes donated and surplus food from grocers, wholesalers, organizations and individuals to families and individuals who need food assistance. Received 1,149,373 lbs of donated food and provided 24,311 bags to feed 34,438 individuals. Serves 501(c)(3) agencies. A food pantry serving needy families and individuals, and various on-site feeding programs serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
emergency assistance - provides utility, water and rental assistance to individuals who qualify. Individuals are interviewed and their crisis is used to determine eligibility. Clients must be a resident of greensboro or guilford county depending on the type of assistance needed. Eap assisted 5850 clients with utilities, 485 clients with water and 723 clients with rental assistance.
weaver house night shelter - offers temporary shelter to homeless adults. Served 1353 unduplicated individuals. Residents receive breakfast, lunch and dinner through the community kitchen, potter's house. In combination with our we! Shelter program, additional housing is provided during the winter months through partnerships with churches and other facilities.
