Although I am a board member now, my first interest in this organization was that it is family and community oriented. I learned that it is because of a strong historical family support of education and organizing this organization in honor of Grady Young and other scholarships that are named for matriarchs and patriarchs that guided the young family. The organization reaches out to all students in an effort to advance opportunities for students to reach their goals to attend school beyond high school. They also work with the high school Guidance Counselors in get the information out to students. The organization also does other community outreach programs such as "Community Back to School Supply Outreach", Family Reunions, Community Can Food Drives, etc. The website has good information to make contact for support as well. The Board of Directors has a vast amount of experience with backgrounds in various professions and academic knowledge that is valuable in supporting students in their efforts to decide choices they are making. The directors are personable and willing to support the communities they live in
