There should be more stars for this fantastic organization! Everyone works relentlessly to enable the best care and attention to every animal that comes into this shelter. They ensure that each animals individual needs are catered for and to. Be it special diets, medications or just plain love and attention. It is not a job for these people - it is their passion for helping all and any animal that they come in contact with. Kudos to this incredible group.

GHS goes above and beyond for the animals. The director will do anything and everything she can for these animals, and has the staff to match the dedication and love. The staff are some of the greatest people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. The animals are in great hands!
Clean and professional, with knowledgable and kind staff. The animals are cared for and loved like family.
Very caring staff. They go above and beyond to make sure the dogs and cats are happy and healthy until they go to their forever homes. We adopted a dog there a few months ago and we love her so much.
GHS and Susan have been helping as many animals and people as possible for many years. Each and every dog and cat are treated like family while they're at the shelter.
I may be a little bias, however I have overseen GHS for many years. It’s like a 2nd home to me. My needs are not what is important.....if they were, I wouldn’t be there anymore. The animals are what make GHS. Presently I have the most wonderful staff and lucky to have them. It takes a lot to have a great “team” but when you do great things happen. I have adopted many of my own at GHS...some have gone over rainbow bridge, and some are still with us. I have hundreds of stories to last me a lifetime. GHS will always be a part of me.

Our family adopted two cats from Goshen Humane a year apart from each other 3 and 4 years ago. I am impressed with how much time is spent with these animals and how well they were socialized. I adopted my first cat shortly before the addition started and the 2nd one half way through the addition so I was able to see a big transformation. In the midst of all the construction and chaos I was in awe as to how well adjusted the cats were and even with all the commotion, there was a kind of calmness in the shelter. The animals seemed to follow the lead of the employees and volunteers and seemed to go along for the ride. I have since visited and donate money and supplies every month of so. This is a small shelter but it is very apparent that the people that run it and work in it are very committed. If I am ever in a position to have a dog, I will most certainly adopt from Goshen H.S.
We adopted one of our dogs from Goshen Humane Society 6yrs ago, and he is an absolute joy! The staff, director, and volunteers work tirelessly to provide a safe and loving environment for the animals in their care. If you’re looking for a new addition or thinking about adopting, you should definitely visit GHS. They are the best!
I have known GHS for 12+ years now having rescued 2 beautiful Pit Bulls from them. Sue & Rick Bosley and their staff are the most animal loving and caring people there. There are no words to express what a great shelter this is and others out their like them that care enough to save pets lives. GHS staff are the ‘angels’ that watch over, protect and care for all their sheltered pets.

EVERYONE at Goshen Humane Society should receive an Angels blessing for the work they do. My husband and I have rescued 2 wonderful dogs from their shelter, Bobo and Otis. Each were SAVED and kept ALIVE with all the care an animal would receive if they already had a home. Goshen Humane Society is a no-kill shelter that provides all the needed veterinary care and much needed love they can give. The volunteers there take the time out of their busy lives to walk, feed, play and love these poor abandoned animals. They are the true Angels!
This shelter goes above and beyond for every single animal that crosses there path. The staff is great with the animals, and truly cares about every single one of them. Everyone there has the animals best interest at heart. I’ve been going there for almost a year to visit Luna, and watching what they do for these animals on a daily basis is incredible. This isn’t a normal shelter, they give these animals a loving, caring environment while they are there and exceed at it. Goshen humane society is truly a special place.
The couple who runs this shelter has an actual love for animals. I've seen a lot of blood, sweat and tears (happy and sad) from the Bossleys. The workers are amazing, the animals are well taken care of and all they try to do is find the most loving home possible for these critters! Nothing but good things to say about this humane society, especially Susan who literally will go above and beyond for any animal.
Love this shelter! Very clean and the staff really care about all of the animals! Susan (the director) will go above and beyond for every animal! Amazing people
I have been involved with the Goshen Humane Society since 2015 both as a volunteer and an employee. It is amazing how much Susan Bossley does with so little funding. Susan tirelessly raises funds to make up the deficit in our budget for veterinarian care, food, training and salaries for the staff. Many people are not aware that we receive no funding for cats, but at the present moment, we have at least 40 at our shelter being cared for. We are a small, non-profit organization, but Susan will not turn away animals in the greatest need. I am proud to be a part of the Goshen Humane Society.

It is my privilege and pleasure to be an employee and volunteer at the Goshen Humane Society. Susan Bossley, the director of the shelter is the most compassionate person I have ever met. Her care and concern for animals should be an example to us all. She has hand-picked a wonderful staff who all share and follow her mission to take the best possible care for all the dogs and cats who reside at the shelter until the right home is found for each and every one.
Susan holds a very high standard for the cleanliness at the shelter. Many people that come through the door mention how clean it is compared to other shelters they have visited. This also makes me proud to be an employee and volunteer of the Goshen Humane Society.
I can not say enough good things about the Goshen Humane Society. Susan Bossley and her staff go above and beyond for the animals in their care.
Susan - you truly are an angel.
Keep up the good work.
Having been involved with Goshen Humane Society and its President, Susan Bossley, I cannot say enough about this organization.
The animals are well and truly cared about, getting one one attention, affection, and they also receive the best medical care.
Susan Bossley puts a great deal of her time and herself into the animals and the shelter, making it a fine refuge until the animals find their forever home.
Awesome! They love and care on all furballs like they are family. Adopted my Gizmo about 6 years ago now. And he is the most amazing migraine buddy. He started out as a foster... haha
The Goshen Humane Society in Goshen, NY is dedicated to helping save animals. The couple who volunteer to run it are devoted, caring, and generous people who have given up their time on a daily basis to make sure that the animals in the shelter are warm, safe, and comfortable. They and the other volunteers who run it go above and beyond to raise money to run the animal shelter and to see that the animals get great homes! A++

Sue and Rick Bossley who run the animal shelter give 100 + % of themselves. There devotion to the animals is remarkable. They are passionate about helping the homeless animals. The shelter is always clean and well run. I only wish every animal shelter was run this exceptionally well.
Goshen Humane Society has always proven itself to be a top notch nonprofit organization for the caring of all animals. Although small they have a very big heart when it comes to the dogs and cats they bring in. One of my cats that recently passed away I adopted from GHS she was almost 19 years old when she passed I adopted her at around 1 year old. They treat the animals there like family and if bad weather is about to come that may prevent the volunteers and workers from getting in to feed and take care of the animals you will find Susan sleeping there overnight to be certain they will be taken care of.
My dad fell ill and was no longer able to live on his own and had to go into a nursing home. I was left to deal with the heartbreak of no only having him in a facility, but I also had to find a loving home for his cat "Baby". After a few attempt at finding a loving home for her, Susan Puzio Bosley reached out to me and said she would take her at the Goshen Humane Society. She would find Baby a good home for me. I knew Susan for many years and know she loves all animals. I felt this was the best solution for dads Baby.
The day I brought Baby in, we were met with a great bunch of young ladies. They got Baby's "room" ready and doted on her. I felt so relieved to know she was in good hands.
Thank you, Goshen Humane Society for reaching out and giving us reassurance that Baby will find a new family.
Goshen humane society is amazing !! The place is very clean and the people that work there are amazing ! The love they have for animals is absolutely remarkable ! Susan is a sweetheart! You will never meet or go to a place that has so much love that shines right through the moment you walk in ! ❤️
I can't say enough good things about Goshen Humane Society. I volunteer there 3 times a week and I find it to be very clean inside and out. The people who work there are wonderful and treat the animals there like they were their own, They take time to train the animals so they are ready for their forever home. I have been going there a year now and have been very impressed by this shelter. Jeanne Gordon
A little over a year ago my family and I were looking to adopt a young dog and found Gus who is an older terrier mix. He was so friendly, almost like he knew we were coming! The staff at GHS were just as friendly and you can tell they’re dedicated to the health and well-being of all the animals in their care. We love Gus so much that we decided to adopt another dog and went back to GHS. The folks over at GHS make sure both the animals and adopters are a perfect fit. I don’t know what I would be doing without Gus and Mabel thanks to everyone at Goshen Humane Society.
The Goshen Humane Society is a caring no-kill shelter that epitomizes how to treat and care for displaced pets. My wife and I rescued a 4yr old German Shepherd that was labeled "unadoptable" by the animal control officer. But by spending time with him, getting to know his story and showing him affection, Susan and her team KNEW he was worth rescuing. Together we fought to adopt him and won.....He was able to spend 9 years living a happy, healthy life with us.
Goshen Humane Society truly cares about the animals they take in and the forever homes they go to.
Thank you for always going above and beyond for the little ones who can't speak for themselves.
We want to thank you for letting little Jakey into our lives! My son Caleb and little Jakey are best friends and inseparable! You guys are truly wonderful with your animals and I suggest anyone looking to come adopt from you! We couldn’t thank you enough! Thank you a million times over!
Everyone here is so helpful. I’m so glad I went with Goshen Humane Society. I adopted Rosie the beginning of February, and she immediately got comfortable with my fiancé and I. Rosie was so well trained, you can tell that they spend a lot of time with the animals. Thank you so much for giving me my baby, I’m so grateful!
Out of all the animal shelters in the area, goshen humane society is by far the most welcoming. Amazingly well kept, organized and cozy for the animals. Thank you goshen humane for providing such a fabulous service to the community!
GHS is a remarkable shelter. The employees and volunteers are dedicated to the well being of all the animals. The cats and dogs at Goshen Humane are given exceptional care; their individual needs are assessed and taken into consideration during their time at the shelter. Great care is taken during the adoption process to ensure each animal is properly placed. The employees are kind, caring, knowledgeable and helpful. I'm proud to be associated with such a fine organization.
I actively follow this organization and contribute to them because of all the wonderful things they do in our community. I believe that they treuly care for every animal that they rescue and try to engage our community in the most positive ways. They have a very difficult and thankless job, but they are always positive and kind to the animals and to the people who they deal with. My friends, family and neighbors gladly support the Goshen Humane Society.
I had an issue with a very, very territorial feral cat that had been attacking my cat. I received instructions on handling the situation from the director of the GHS, as well as the use of a trap. This cat was then trapped, neutered and vaccinated, and released to the care of the shelter. A win/win for that cat and my own, and I could not be happier.
They do great things at Goshen Humane Society each and every day.
The Goshen Humane Society is a great place. They take such good care of the cats and dogs. We are forever grateful for Susan, Rick and their staff for bringing Hunter into our lives.
I've been volunteering at the Goshen Humane Society for many years and have nothing but good things to say about what we do there. It's always very clean, and it doesn't reek of bleach like most shelters do. The animals always have what they need. The cats and dogs even get treats like peanut butter dog bones and cat treats. The dogs always get walks and are played with outside! The cats that are in cages get time to walk around outside of their cages for a little while, so they can stretch their paws. I'm so proud to be part of an organization that truly cares about the happiness and well being of their animals. The Goshen Humane Society truly goes above and beyond for the animals in their care.
The Goshen Humane Society is a very well organized animal shelter. The facility is very clean, and the animals are treated well. The management and volunteers are wonderful. They take all opportunities to help raise funds and make the animals' lives as good as possible.
This is a wonderful shelter. My daughter has volunteered on occasion (and should be doing it more often!) to read to the cats and help socialize them for a more successful transition to a forever home. What I like is how much the dogs get exercised, nice long walks several times a day and not just stuck in a big outdoor turnout. It's very clean and the animals receive so much love. I'm looking forward to finding the perfect dog to join my pack!
My Daughter has been working at the shelter for 6 yrs during this time I am able to observe the amount of caring and dedication that all workers have for each and every animal that has come into the shelter including those that are sick and injured. I have also had the pleasure of adopting 4 cats that have become part of my family.I would highly suggest getting your friend and family member from them
Hello, my name is Dylan and I adopted a beautiful cat named Skylar from the Goshen Human Society not too long ago.
It took her a little to get used to my apartment, but she's been getting more comfortably each day and she is an absolute sweetheart. Thank you to the humane society for helping me find her.
The Goshen Humane Society's dedication to their animals is unparalleled. Our family was searching for a new canine member after losing our family pet of 9 years. When we fell in love with Wally, a long term resident of the shelter, it was clear it would not be an overnight process. We were committed to giving Wally the support he needed in order to leave the shelter and become a permanent member of our family. This could not have been possible without the support of the Goshen Humane Society and their amazing staff. Employees and volunteers alike worked with our family and Wally and we have seen an astounding transformation in Wally's behavior and overall demeanor. I would and have highly recommended the Goshen Humane Society to friends and colleagues looking to adopt and would encourage anyone else thinking of opening their heart and home to do so as well.
I've worked here for almost 2 years and absolutely adore all the animals that come/came through those doors. Most have the saddest stories I've ever heard to happen to an animal but knowing all the love and care that we give them let's them know that the horrible things are in the past. They've learned to trust humans again. Watching the ones that truly were broken find a forever home makes all the work that we do worth it. This humane society truly does all they can do and are so involved in the community. Susan is a very passionate and dedicated person, she goes above and beyond for these animals. They deserve to be spoiled and loved and that's just what everyone in this shelter does for them.
The Goshen Humane Society has been a tremendous partner at helping families find a pet to complete their family. They do an excellent job at ensuring animals have quality homes and take very good care of the animals waiting for adoption.
I would highly recommend the Goshen Humane Society. Our community would be lost without them!

Goshen Humane Society is a well run shelter for dogs and cats. It is beautifully maintained and the animals are well cared for. We adopted our dog from there and the process was extremely easy! The staff was very helpful and you can tell that they really care about the animals that reside there.
I have donated to this organization for many years. I am a resident of the Village of Goshen and believe in supporting the community and I think this is one of the most appreciative and deserving organizations I've ever come to know. I can't tell you how many hand written thank you's that I've received. Unfortunately I don't think that this organization receives half of the support that it should get. The public, Town and Village should be much more grateful for what this organization does for the community. They work tirelessly to provide for the cats and dogs that take refuge there. I will always be supportive of any great cause and this is one of the best.
I had the pleasure of working at Goshen Humane Society for nearly a year. The director is someone who cares deeply and is very driven to help as many as she can. Goshen Humane may be a small shelter but it has a lot of heart. They take the health and well-being of their shelter animals very seriously. I wish that I had seen more community support for them but I am hoping that it will develop over time because they are a great establishment.
A wonderful place to adopt a pet. Our dog Wags was from there. Well kept and clean. All those that run it are all amazing people. :)
A wonderful environment for the animals. Goshen humane has a loving and caring staff always keeping the animals best intentions in mind& keeping them as their number one priority. A clean shelter which tries to meet your needs as well as the pets! They usually respond by phone or email quickly and timely as well!
The Goshen Humane Society is great. They operate on a small budget and do a outstanding job. Thank you to all the dedicated people who go above and beyond for all the animals. Please support your local Humane Society and make a difference.
The staff at Goshen Humane are outstanding -- they go above and beyond for the animals in their care. I was fortunate to adopt my wonderful baby boy Jack from them 4 years ago. He is an amazing cat who might not have flourished if not for the time they spent helping him find his forever home. I would recommend this shelter to anyone looking for their perfect new family member.
Very knowledgeable, and friendly staff. They care for the animals and where they place them. Would recommend the Goshen Humane Society if looking to adopt a cat or dog.
This humane society truly cares for their animals, and where they are placed. The staff is courteous, and exceptionally friendly. I would recommend this Humane Society to anyone looking to adopt a pet
Goshen Humane Society is a wonderful shelter. The place is immaculately clean everytime I have stepped through the door. The cats and dogs that are there are very well taken care of. The dogs get numerous walks throughout the dog as well as play time in the yard!
The Goshen Humane Society shines from within with all the compassion the volunteers, staff, & Susan Bossley have for these animals. When you walk through the shelter doors you can tell instantly that GHS is made a home for the cats and dogs by the cleanliness and love flowing through the building. The cats and dogs always have food, water, & treats available to them at all time. They get play time, bath time, training time, & snuggle/quiet time! These are the lucky ones!
You can feel the love to the animals the minute you set foot in the shelter. You just know they are loved and cared for because of how clean their cages are and how there is always food, water, toys and treats available to them. The staff and volunteers dedicate their time to giving love to each animal and help train and socialize them so they'll be ready for their forever homes. I've heard horrible stories about where the animals have come from and to see how happy they are at Goshen Humane Society makes the pain of their stories go away. You know the animals have a perfect home (temporary or forever) at Goshen Humane Society.
I have had the privilege to volunteer for the shelter a few months. I have witnessed the employees cry over a momma cat have to be put down because someone shot her she left 4 kittens about 3 weeks old. All those kittens survived because of the dedication of the staff. The cat room is so clean it amazes me . The dogs are so loving. They love their baths & their walks. Brushing them is easier than brushing my own pups They love the attention. I have enjoyed volunteering here so much Even on a bad day is a good one because the staff & other volunteers have been so easy to work with.
I visited this place about a dozen times the place is immaculately clean! The animals look healthy and the staff & volunteers are amazingly sweet. I had the pleasure of not only meeting Susan bossley but actually becoming friends with her and we keep in touch. Her love and passion for animals is truly touching and amazing ! I recommend everyone to this place ! Susan thank you for being you ❤️❤️
My mother and stepfather have put their heart and soul into Goshen Humane as long as I can remember. I remember as a kid my mom not being home until almost 8pm just to walk dogs even though she worked all day and does that up until this day. My stepfather has always fought for the shelter as well and together they have added on so that more animals could be taken in and found a home. Goshen humane is always kept clean and had great staff and volunteers as well.
With assuredness and deep conviction, I can't say enough about the work and passion that Susan Bossley pours into the Goshen Humane Society. Her devotion to this/her cause is front and center 24/7. Her love and caring for animals, be it at the shelter, or for her menagerie at home, holds almost a lifetime of undivided attention. Pride in the facility cleanliness and well-being of each and every animal is reflected in every conversation and through her tireless efforts in maintaining a environment that is top of the line and nothing short of what each and every shelter animal fully deserves .. truly.
Casper (the white kitty) and I, Oreo lived at this shelter for a little time. The staff took very good care of us. People came in to visit us and play with us until finally we adopted our human. Although we're a couple years apart in age we love each other like litter-mates.
While at the shelter the food was good, and the company superb.
The director, Susan, took pictures and video to make sure the world could see how cute we are.
Our human says that the adoption process was easy and that the staff were very friendly. They even let him come visit as often as he wanted and let him play with other cats and feed as us well.
The Goshen shelter was very nice and we miss Susan, but are grateful they made it easy to find a forever home.
I've been volunteering with the dogs at the GHS for 4-5 yrs., I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Some say a animal shelters are horrible places, and sadly some are, however the dogs and cats at GHS are very well cared for, for me these are the lucky ones! All of the animals have food, water, clean pens or cages, heat and AC. The dogs are walked or have play time in the yard several times a day. On days when it's too hot to walk the dogs they love to have pool time or just a cool down bath. Sometimes the dogs just like to spend some quiet time getting brushed and and being loved. We try to teach the dogs basic commands so that someday when someone comes looking to adopt the dogs have at least some knowledge of commands. The cats have new cages with portholes so they can get exercise and run from place to place, we also have a free roaming room where the cats enjoy each others company and can watch all the outside activity from the big picture window. Between the dedicated employees and volunteers this shelter is always as clean and neat as possible. Although I haven't spent the number of years at the shelter that Susan has, I can tell you that I have literally given my blood, sweat and yes tears (mostly when one of the dogs gets adopted) to this shelter. . . and wouldn't have it any other way. The attached picture is the most recent addition to our family and of course he was adopted from GHS.
Each and every animal in this shelter is shown love and compassion ! The Place is immaculately clean. Employees are super sweet and the volunteers have huge hearts. The dogs are walked throughout the day and kept clean. The shelter is run by TRUE animals lovers that have the BEST interest of each animal a priority. I truly am thankful for this safe place for the animals
I have known Rick and Susan Bossley for 14 Yrs. over that time, ive gotten to see their loving and caring sides when it comes to the animals in their shelter. they go above and beyond when it comes to the humane society. I was looking to adopt a dog and they helped me find the perfect dog. he was a rescue from Tennessee, hence why I named him JD. He has been a blessing. such a love he is. if it weren't for their time and dedication, I wouldn't of found him. they match the animals with their perfect owners. they even adopt animals their selves. giving them a good home. their lives have always rotated around the shelter. I would definitely tell anyone who would like to adopt a dog or cat, to go to the Goshen humane society. its a wonderful feeling to know that the animals there are truly cared for.
when people donate to the shelter, it goes exactly what its for, making the animals there happy and healthy. Michele Vanderpyle
I've known Sue from the humane society for over 10 years. I was not looking for another cat. Scrolling through Facebook I came across Gavin. 10 year old big baby cat had been at the humane society for 4 years. They did extensive and expensive dental work and battled with him through a severe auto immune disorder that took the better part of a year to beat...and almost took his life. They spent a ton of money and even more time and love than ever imaginable to save an old cat. It is shocking how far they go to save a life. It is a true example of how each Animal is important even if they are older. Most places would have put him down. The most heart warming amazing thing is, Gavin is not the only one they have gone above and beyond for. They do this for every animal in their care. I am so grateful their Gavin came into our life. He fit in perfectly. I'll be ever grateful for the shelter and respect their work to the fullest. I'm a wild life rehabilitator myself and know how much time and money and heart it takes. Thank you thank you thank you so much for our cat. We love him to the moon and back. I will be a forever supporter and die hard advocate for the Goshen humane society.
Wonderful place to adopt an animal . Dedicated people under the direction of Susan Bossley maintain a clean , safe environment for the animals. I've seen how content the cats all were in a room were they we able to roam freely .

When my son and I bright home 2 abandoned kittens, I knew that I needed to get them fixed. I reached out to Susan and not only did she highly recommend TARA, she let us use 2 of their crates to transport them in. It was then , when I picked up the crates, that I saw how wonderful of a place GHS is. So clean and well maintained. They do a fantastic job with their animals .
Most outstanding staff and most outstanding care and love for all animals, this organization puts the welfare of animals first always!

I have volunteered at the Goshen shelter for over 1 year. The shelter provides a safe haven for the animals and I have seen the compassionate care they receive. I would highly recommend this non-profit. It is well run and efficient.
Goshen Humane Society is run by the best-the people are caring and do everything in there power to place the animals in loving permanent homes. In today's world it is nice to know that such caring people still exist!
I adopted my cat pepper from here the shelter was very clean. The employee's were very own helpful. I would recommend anyone to go here.
Three years ago I adopted Jack, a beautiful and shy tuxedo cat, from GHS. He had been at the shelter since he was a kitten, but was overlooked because of his shyness. Susan spent extra time socializing him so he could find his forever home. Everyone at GHS is warm, loving and caring. They do everything possible to make sure that every animal who passes through their doors receives the best care available. This is done despite a critical lack of funding from both the Village and Town of Goshen, which makes constant fundraising essential to even keep their doors open. Anything you can do to support this wonderful shelter is greatly appreciated.
This is a grass roots not for profit. Susan Bossley is a dedicated Director who sleeps at the shelter specific days of the week to tend to the animals. She and her crew of volunteers truly care for the animals at the shelter and as a donor, I can tell you that every penny goes to the care and adoption of these poor creatures.
I used to work for Goshen Humane Society. I probably wasn't the best employee, and I learned a lot by working there. Now I see just how much the people that run it care about the welfare of the animals. It really is their top priority and purely about the cats and dogs. You can't be a part of this shelter and not fall in love with each and every animal there. These animals are lucky to have GH as their home until someone adopts them. I have also adopted from this shelter and knew that I was getting a pet that had been given tons of love and care whilst at the shelter. The Town and Village of Goshen are lucky to have this shelter and the people that take care of it.
Susan's 2015 shoe drive provided a creative way to share my love of cats, dogs and shoes. My donors & I collected 311 pairs of shoes. The fundraiser gives the cats more spacious cages, clears our closets of unnecessary shoes and benefits those who can wear the donated shoes or recycle them so the shoes are kept out of the landfill. We gave shoes. Susan gives her heart and soul.
I wanted to let everyone out their know about a wonderful nonprofit organization, THE GOSHEN HUMANE SOCIETY INC,, the couple who brought this wonderful nonprofit organization to life and all their volunteers, have dedicated their time, hard work, and LOVE to provide food, shelter, medical care, and compassion for so many homeless animals. They never give up on finding these Angels their forever home.
For many many years I have watched them use their love and compassion for animals drive them to help as many unfortunate animals as they can, because these are the kind of people they are, they are people who TRULY LOVE ANIMALS and will stop at nothing to save them. The Goshen Humane Society Inc, is a safe haven for these homeless pets, that is full of unselfish, unconditional, and dedicated love.
These people are special and this organization is special and we are so VERY FORTUNATE to have them in Goshen, NY to provide a place were animals can be treated with the love and compassion they deserve.
God Bless All of You for ALL that you do!!!!
Goshen Human Society is great for the local community. Operating with such a small budget they really are able to do a great job thanks to some wonderful people. Get out there and support your local Humane Society!
Goshen Humane Society operates on a shoe string budget and for many years Susan and Rick along with a few faithful volunteers have made ends meet and refuse to let it close. At the same time they provide excellent care for the many animals brought in to the shelter. Susan works tirelessly on fund raising, educating the community on the importance of spay and neuter, and getting the animals adopted to good homes.
I saw a post on the Goshen Humane Society facebook page to foster a cat named Sylvester (Sly) who was on thyroid medication. When I went in to inquire about fostering, Susan spent over an hour introducing me to Sly, explaining his health background, medication, eating habits and answering my many questions. Unfortunately for all of us, my home was not a good fit for Sly and with deep regrets I had to bring him back to the shelter. Although I felt terrible, I was consoled by Susan and the staff. I still bring Sly his monthly medication and visit with him. I enjoy visiting and sitting with the cats in the free roaming room and am always greeted first by Gavin the Mayor. When I have time I also visit with the cats that are in cages. They are also very friendly. I am in awe as to how clean the shelter is, and how well adjusted, happy and well cared for the dogs and cats are. Susan and the staff go above and beyond to provide a home environment for the dogs and cats in their care making sure they feel loved as they wait for their forever family to find them.
Throughout the past 10 years the GH Society has done more than I could put on paper. Every time a dog got dumped in our yard, they were there to help. 6 years ago I adopted 2 disabled cats from them and the help that was there with continued support was just heart warming. Recently a small female cat ended up in the development where I live and her eye was hanging out and her face was all ripped up. I sent Susan Bossley a photo and she met me at the Vets on her day off. The heart of this woman is amazing as she cares for each and every animal that she comes into contact with that needs her help. We are blessed in this town of Goshen to have such a wonderful shelter and incredible people who run it. I hope that they are all appreciated.
My family adopted Gizmo a maltese mix 3 years ago & we could not be happier! I wish we could adopt more, the staff makes the process very smooth & they are truly concerned for all the animals safety & well being.
My girl scout troop was welcomed with open arms to volunteer at the shelter & we hope to keep returning its a great way for the kids to see what it takes to care for pets & the love & compassion all animals deserve. Thank you to Susan & the staff for ALL you do for all these animals.
In the past few years I have adopted 6 cats from the GHS. The facility is very clean and the staff very helpful in answering any questions you may have. The cats are very calm and interact well with each other which tells me they feel safe and very loved. The dogs have very nice inside runs and they also love the outside time playing in the fenced, grass areas. It's a great place to adopt your new furbaby.
Over the past five years I've adopted both a dog and a cat from the shelter. My children and I also visit the shelter to spend time with the cats in the free roaming room. Every single animal in the shelter is well taken care of and loved immensely. I have nothing but good things to say. Not only are animals adopted out of the shelter but it's made sure that they go to homes that are perfect fit.
I adopted my cat Mia from Goshen Humane in 2005. The shelter is clean and the animals are well cared for. It is always a pleasure to visit and it is one of the best no kill shelters in the area.
I've visited there many times bringing food for both the cats and dogs. I have never found the shelter or the animals unkempt. The staff is dedicated. I remember going there when a dog was rescued off the street full of mange and emaciated. They named him Moe because he only had hair on the top of his hair like a Mohawk. LIz took this dog home every day because he had to be bathed twice a day for his mange. He had to be carried because he was so emaciated and weak that he could not stand up on his own. The vets were not SURE of his survival. Well after 6 months of baths, treatments and physical therapy in addition to love and acceptance, Moe has been adopted by none other than LIZ. THAT'S the kind of staff they have working there. Please give recognition to Goshen Humane Society as they are a shelter that deservingly needs to be heard.
As board certified Behaviorist's, we deal with many shelters. Goshen humane society is extremely clean and they care deeply for the well-being of their animals. Many shelters will not invest the time / money to bring dogs to a behaviorist for help, but Goshen will do so in order to safely adopt their dogs out to the public; always going the extra mile for them.

I have been to the shelter many times and adopted my cat from them. I fostered him and Susan and staff were amazing! Loooove Goshen Humane
I love to visit the shelter with my children. It is always clean and the animals are well cared for. The cat room is comfortable and open for the cats. They can enjoy the sunshine through the windows that brighten up the room. We have volunteered there as a 4H group and the staff are always willing to spend time with us in order to best serve the animals. A fantastic asset to the community.
I got my dog Rudy there about 5 years ago and it has been the best thing to ever happen to me! He's an amazing dog full of love. I brought my dad to meet him that day and a couple hours later we were taking him home. The staff is great and they treat all of their animals as pets of their own
We adopted a wonderful cat from GHS in January 2012, shortly after losing our 22 year old male. Tony, as he was known then, was about 6 months old and had somehow been in the shelter since he was only a couple of days old. Having worked in rescue in the past, I was very impressed first of all, that they really did a thorough background check - calling all refernces and checking with our vet before allowing us to adopt. Once we did get to bring him home, it become obvious that this little cat had been very well socialized and loved in his time at the shelter. Unlike most young cats, he did not bite or scratch when playing, and he loved being held. He has been in our home now for only 2 1/2 years, but we can't imagine not having him around. He's an awesome cat and the credit obviously goes to his caretakers at Goshen HS who socialized and loved him until we met him.
Words can not even come to describing how grateful I am for Goshen humane and the people who run it. About two and a half years ago I adopted Theo (pit bull). At the time I thought I was saving him, but it turns out, he saved me. Susan and Liz are nothing short of amazing, selfless humans who will do anything for every cat or dog in the facility. They do thorough background checks to make sure these animals are going to have the best lives possible in their "furrever" home. It is a clean, extremely well run society, that have people bend over backwards for the care of animals. I can't thank them enough for bringing me and Theo together. There was a reason he was there for such a long time, and it was because he was waiting for me, as I was waiting for him. I Reccomend GHS to everyone looking to adopt a new addition to thier family. They're amazing!!!
