Programs: “Adopt-a-Family” Program Local individuals and families are encouraged to “adopt” a family in need during the holidays. Through this program, families who are in need of resources are provided with gifts, food, etc. Joy for Kids This Christmas Leading up to the holiday season, we collect toys, gifts, and food items to create gift baskets for families in the area that are finding it financially difficult to celebrate the holidays. Easter Basket Drive Marinelly Cruz, Executive Director of God’s Vision Foundation, says, “The Easter Baskets will brighten the holiday for those children staying at shelters around the city. We can’t believe that this is the 1st year that God’s Vision Foundation have been collecting Easter Baskets. We are so appreciative of your support!” Cellophane wrapped Easter baskets can be filled with items for children ages 1 to 17 and can include toys, journals, games, personal care items, gift cards, packaged healthy snacks and traditional Easter candy. Fill The Backpack Program we provide backpacks filled with school supplies, clothing, and other school-related items to ease the burden of back-to-school spending for families. Moms & Babies Program Our partnership with different programs like Cribs for Kids and other partners to benefits the families we serve agencies in our community. Our goal is to make sure that no parent has to endure the pain of loosing their baby, for not having a safe sleep. We are helping New Mothers and Mothers to be with essential items need to received their baby from a crib, diapers to pads. Help us in our cause Today! Food Pantry In the winter months, YES maintains a food pantry stocked with non-perishable items and at times fresh meat and produce. This is made possible through the generosity of donations from community members and local foundations. Hot Meals & Hot Meals on Wheel We serve free hot meals seven days a week The applicant must be homebound. The person must not be able to take care of themselves, which usually means the individual applying for Meals on Wheels needs to be at least 60 years of age or older, disabled, or in serious medical condition. Most agencies will also provide free meals to the spouse or partner of a person at least 60 years of age. The person who needs food must be unable to attend a local Senior Center or food pantry because of emotional or physical disabilities. Applicants must be elderly, physically or emotionally unable to obtain food, disabled, or otherwise can’t prepare full meals on their own. A prioirty for delivery is the homebound, and they need to lack a car or transportation to a local grocery store. *COVID-19 Program Update: All Community Hot Meals will now be served as boxed to-go meal. Adult Literacy/Professional Development Programs Our programs and projects promote adult education through: Basic Literacy (reading, writing, basic math)(Pending) ELL (English Language Learning) High School Equivalency Degree (Pending) Financial, Digital, and Health literacy Native Language Learning (Pending) SERVSAFE Food and Safety Certification (low cost) CPR CERTIFICATION (low cost)
