Mission: The Global Friends Coalition has three primary goals: •Support Refugees (New Americans) to become more fluent in English. •Support New Americans to become more connected, engaged, and contributing members of their new communities. •Support the Greater Grand Forks community to actively embrace its New American residents.
Results: http://www.gfcoalition.org/news.html Each year, GFC hosts or co-hosts a number of community events, including a community-refugee picnic, a large World Refugee Day fair held at the Town Square during the Farmers Market, a Deepawali festival, and international nights at the University of North Dakota. GFC also honors requests from community groups to make presentations at its gatherings to better educate their members. In addition, GFC partners with dozens of local organizations on projects aimed at supporting New Americans.
