I have been volunteering, donating and served on fundraising committees for this program for over ten years. It is positively inspiring to see the girls enter this progrm unsure of themselves and blossom into confident and motivated young ladies eager to learn. I get the greatest pleasure of seeing the numbers increase yearly of young ladies pursuing higher education at colleges and universities across the country. When I see them come back as professionalble young women eager to give of their time to the community and encourage our young girls to follow their dreams and pursue a higher eduacation. I know this program works. I have seen it year after year.

10 years ago I was asked by another volunteer to come join them for their annual fundaraiser, with only two paid staff members (who had previously been volunteers) and a small office, they needed all the volunteers they could get to make the annual fundraiser happen. Little did I know how much this program would impact my life. I have met many wonderful and inspring girls and women. Knowing that you can have a positive impact on youth to pursue their dreams and seeing those dreams become a reality is not only rewarding but inspiring. I am very proud to be a part of such an important organization. GTWT!
Girls Today Women Tomorrow is a prime example of what a successful mentoring program should be. My organization, Women Empowered, have had the great privilege of working with GTWT and providing group mentoring activities for the young girls. We are so thankful and grateful for GTWT for giving us the opportunity to spend time with the girls in the program. Our experience with the girls and GTWT thus far has been exceptional and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with this wonderful organization. Watching these girls blossom into beautiful women and leaders is so rewarding in it of itself and I thank GTWT for welcoming WE.
I have been a mentor with GTWT since 2002 and the last 9 years have been filled with some of the most rewarding experiences. I have been able to mentor girls all the way from junior high and high school through college. The girls of the low income violence filled community of Boyle Heights face so many daunting challenges, that I have felt it a real privilege to be able to play some small part in their success. These are some of the most hard working and creative young ladies I have ever met and I am constantly encouraged by their determination and drive not only to succeed but to make their community a better place to live.
