Fuzzy Pawz Rescue

Our 14+ year old dog passed in January. We hesitated to even get another dog, as our hearts were broken. Finally, we got up the courage to fill that empty spot our Toby had left us with through "Fuzzy Paw Rescue." After much searching, we were found to be a match! My husband and I are retired, and met al of the criteria of adopting a forever pet, except having a fenced yerd. We live in the country, and have a dog run that is fenced. I was promised that the individual would get back to me about this small issue, as I was going to Boise the next day, and could pic up our potential new fur baby. My call was never returned. We are heart broken! If this is the way this company does business, I am forced to give them a thumbs down! As much as we appreciate their concern for their animals, perhaps they should be more concerned with the humans on the other end of their call as well. Promises made should be promises kept! The return call was never made, the "Human Connection," was never kept! Here in Rigby, we are still waiting for another forever fur baby. We will continue looking for another elsewhere.

I lost my companion in Sept of 2017, and after waiting almost a year I decided it was time to get a new cat or dog. I stumbled upon Fuzzy Paws Rescue and immediately fell in love with their whole process. They really screen their applicants and make sure the pets are going to great homes. I was blessed to be able to bring home a sweet girl named Gigi, she is the perfect long dog. Both Amy (Foster mom) and I cried on adoption day. I recommend Fuzzy Paws to anyone looking for a new pet.

I have rescued two amazing fur babies from Fuzzy Pawz - first, my black cat, Thomas, who I rescued in December of 2016. Not knowing much about cats, Thomas has been the PERFECT fit for me and my 9-year-old rescue dog (Leo) who didn't care too much for cats, until he met Thomas. What a perfect fit!
Secondly, I rescued my dog Friday from Jimmie Napper in late September of 2017. Frida was blind and deaf when I rescued her, and had been through a lot of trauma from her past life (which we will never know much about). She has been approximated by vets to be about 12 - 15 years old. Either way, she is an elderly lady, and she has had her challenges, but now I cannot imagine my life without her. I love that I still stay in contact with Jimmie, her original foster Mom. Jimmie and her husband, Roy, have watched Frida for me when I do my yearly trips to Mexico and Central America (for work), and being gone for about 2 - 3 weeks at a time is so difficult to leave my Frida, but I trust no one with her more than I do her original fosters, Jimmie and Roy. I love that I have grown an unexpected friendship with Frida's foster parents - we still communicate quite regularly, now over a year since Frida has blessed my life with her presence. I have so much respect for Fuzzy Paws, because they really do everything they can (no matter how much money) to save these animals. I have always been most attracted to the ones with special needs, like Frida - as soon as I met her, I knew we had a bond. She has come so far- she sleeps in my bed with me every night, and has gotten exponentially better with her potty training and with eating regularl meals (her teeth were rotted when she was found wandering around McCall, ID, in the heat of the summer), so she has to have softer food. Frida has truly become the love of my life, and in only about a year! I have never rescued a dog who cannot see or hear, but I have learned so much from Frida, I cannot imaginge my life without her. She brings me unconditional happiness every day.
We need people to love and respect these animals who have been through hard times, and really, they are the ones who seem to love us the most, knowing that we are their protectors, and will love and care for them, no matter what prior issues they may have- it is not their fault that they have not had the best lives up until this point, and we have to be patient with them, but the love the give us, outweighs (by infinity) and other issues we may have to deal with, like cleaning up messes- really, that is nothing compared to their love, and we all need to understand that all these animals want is love, and a human companion, their forever home, to treat them with the respect, and unconditional tenderness that they deserve.
I will always choose Fuzzy Pawz first in the future, as both Thomas and Frida have been two of the best pets I have ever owned. I did not rescue Frida to be "a good person," like so many people tell me that I am- I rescued her because I honestly felt a connection to this beautiful soul, and I really respect that Fuzzy Paws takes the time to find the perfect fit- the perfect forever home for these animals that are in need of unconditional love.
Please, when you think about spending thousands of dollars to adopt a pure-bread from a breeder, think again- think about adopting a foster pet from Fuzzy Pawz, because these precious souls need our love, and I promise, if you are patient and loving, and understand their needs, they will enrich your life more than you could ever imagine. I have heard plenty of stories about pure-bread puppies also causing stress for their owners, so no animal is perfect. But the ones who have had tough lives, and who are brought into loving homes, are the ones who any human with compassion and empathy will treasure. Frida has enriched my life more than I could ever imagine, and has opened my eyes to any living creature (humans included) who have these sorts of disabilities (and I am a psychiatric provider, so I always figured I was empathetic and non-judgemental anyways). After a long day of work, Frida is truly my own therapy dog. The whole foster process was seemless, and really quite easy, as these animals are taken such good care for, gotten back on their feet, through their foster homes - Fuzzy Paws takes special care to make sure these animals are in optimal health, and their foster parents are incredible, as in some cases, they know that these animals may never fully recover, but do everything (and I literally mean EVERYTHING) to work with local vetrinarians to bring them back to good health, and at the same time, giving them enough time to recover fully, establish consistency and trust, before even advertizing them for adoption. The foster parents of these animals have hearts of gold! If I were a millionaire, I would donate so much to Fuzzy Paws, as I am so incredibly impressed by the way they bring these animals back to health (which is definitely, often FAR from simple), and risk their own time and emotions to dedicate themselves towards the recovery, re-introduction into a stable family, and then adoption into their forever homes.
I've been an animal activist and always rescued all my pets (my whole life), and so far, I am most impressed with Fuzzy Paws, because they truly expend all that they can to put broken animals back together, foster them, and give careful consideration upon ensuring a good fit between the animal and his/her new mommy/daddy. I never thought I could care so much about an animal until I have had the privledge to care for my Frida- blind, deaf, few teeth, house-breaking issues... she is the love of my life, and seeing her progress every day has been the most rewarding thing in my life so far.
I will always adopt from Fuzzy Paws. Please consider these animals for adoption before going to a "designer" breeder, as they need your love, and will love you unconditionally. You must, however, be understanding that they often need some extra love, but honestly I know friends who have adopted expensive pure-breads from breeders, and the training that they face with these animals is just as intense, just in a different way. It is AMAZING to watch these foster babies come out of their shells. Even though I know that I may not have a ton of years left with Frida (I hope I do! ...but this is something I have had to work on accepting emotionally, although her last vet visits have shown her bloodwork to still be suprisingly excellent), the time I have has with her has changed my life forever.

And thank you to Jimmie and Roy Napper for being so amazing and devoting themselves to the recovery and placement of these bealtifuls souls who will love their forever humans unconditionally, and with such conviction that it even brings tears to my eyes- tears of happiness and fullfillment.

It is almost time to celebrate our year 2 with our Heidi. We were thankful when we brought her home Thanksgiving Day. She has brought us great joy, laughter and much unconditional love. She loves her walks and naps on our laps. Thank you Cindy for puppy sitting and Elizabeth for fostering her family. She is perfect in our family.
