Having had family members with cancer it is heartwarming to have such a giving charity. I have gladly supported it every year for the big fund raising.
Too bad they could not have the best tournament in the valley this summer. Only tournament that shares how much they raise and donate.
Every year Friends of Valley Charities raise funds to make a difference in our local community. Much of the work in organizing, advertising, etc. is donated so that almost all funds raised go directly to the charitable causes. We are blessed to have a strong community partner choosing to be the change and to make a difference.
FVC is a worthwhile charity which provides a scholarship to a JMU student whose life has been affected by cancer. I’m happy to support FVC, and in turn, a young Duke.
I have been a sponsor of events for this charity, and I understand that everything donated goes to the charitable causes - there are no administrative costs!. I dislike giving to organizations that just use a huge chunk of my donation just for more fundraising efforts. However, with Friends of Valley Charities, all of the administrative work is done by volunteers, which is refreshing -- and a good reason to keep this charity on the top of your list!
The Friends of the Valley Charities is a great organization! Both my mom and dad had cancer about 20 years ago and they recently came out to play in the last FVC golf tournament. The golf tournament was a great time and something I will remember as my dad just past away from Cancer this past Thanksgiving. Thanks to Susan and all her help at FVC for what she does.
I have made some small donations to help support the golf tournament run by FoVC. Despite the small amounts I donated, the organizers were very quick to respond to my inquiries. They also prepared a couple of banners announcing my support -- and allowed me to see and proofread them before production.
After the tournaments i supported, the organizers publicly posted the results of the tournament, how much they earned, etc. -- very transparent. Some charities can be vague, so it's nice to work with a charity that shows you where your money goes!
I love working with FVC because they are great people who never truly get the recognition they deserve. I hope to see them continue to grow in Harrisonburg and beyond in the upcoming years.
This is a grass-roots organization that organizes events to raise funds to support local cancer efforts. The 5Ks support a scholarship for a JMU student affected by cancer. The golf tournament raises funds for the local hospital's cancer care efforts. All funds go to charity -- there is no administrative overhead.
Great 5k - very well run and great cause!! Loved with with these ladies :) I hope to work with them again next year!!
This organization was such a joy to be apart of. I was apart of a service committee for Tro-Beta and we helped find sponsors and organize a 5k to raise money for a student affected by cancer. You can tell how much they care about helping others in any way they can. It was such a great experience teaming up with them for this event.
I worked with this organization by planning a 5k to raise money for a JMU scholarship for a student who has had/been affected by cancer. They teamed up with my organization,a biology honors fraternity, as well as a community service organization as well. They were such a joy to work with and truly cared about helping others around them. They are such a motivated organization and it truly shows. I enjoyed working with Susan and Pam very much throughout the year. They are truly great people.
I have participated in two of the golf tournaments held by Friends of Valley Charities. Both functions have been well attended and well organized, a testament to the organization's popularity and standards.
I have also given, individually, because I believe in Friends of Valley Charities cause and trust that any gift is used toward the advertised use. I strongly believe the founders have a heart toward helping others and that we share similar views in community outreach. I fully support this organization.
I volunteered at the glow 5k they co-sponsored last year as well as this year. It is always great fun to exercise, but have a good time doing it as well
Friends of valley charities is so great for the Harrisonburg community. To integrate the community, the college, and philanthropy together is great
They put on great events - both the golf tourney and 5k - they are very transparent about how much was raised. If you can attend one, do it. Or just donate...
FVC has cooperated greatly with the Public Affairs Student Organization in the past with organizing 5Ks to raise money for their cause to help a JMU student that has been affected by cancer. We look forward to cooperating with them in the near future!
I participated in their last color run and their first ever Glow 5k. Both events were a lot of fun and for such a great cause. Can't wait to continue to support this organization!
In the spring of 2015, FOVC was very helpful in putting on JMU's Public Affairs Student Organization's Glow 5K. The event would not have been possible without them.
My son told be about this organization after working alongside them on a JMU event. I was impressed by how friendly and diligent they were working to accomplish their overall goals at the event.
I participated in the first 5K they did at James Madison University and had so much fun. It was organized well and all of their hard work and effort paid off!
I participated in a few of FVC's events and had an absolute blast! I especially support their cause of cancer research and endowment towards funding because of the first hand experience my family has gone through with cancer. I hope to get more involved as the months progress!
This Organization does great work and promotes a good cause. I work relatively closely with the organization and help plan and prepare my own events. I cannot wait to further work with Friends of Valley Charities and the causes that they support!
