Nonprofit Overview
Mission: The friends of south shore hospital exists to engage individuals, former patients and family members, community leaders and hospital staff in a spectrum of opportunities - including philanthropic, volunteer, educational, and social activities - to support and promote the hospital's mission of healing, caring and comforting.
Target demographics: We support all areas of the hospital with emphasis on cancer care, cardiovascular care, home care, pediatrics (including pregnancy, birth, and SCN/NICU ), and behavioral health.
Direct beneficiaries per year: We awarded 18 scholarships to students in Nursing and health related fields. We also purchased specialized equipment for the cardiovascular rehab dept., NICU and pediatrics.
Geographic areas served: The Friends of South Shore Health is a membership organization that supports the Health System.
Programs: The organization raises funds through a variety of events and a gift shop located in the hospital. Net proceeds of the shop and the fundraising events are donated to the hospital to benefit programs for patients and their families. Additionally, we host a monthly lunch bunch, book club and two education programs per month.
