Mission: Friends of Skagit County is dedicated to preserving Skagit County''s rural character by protecting the natural environment; supporting sustainable, resource-based economies; and promoting livable urban communities for present and future generations.
Programs: Friends of Skagit County's programs include: Skagit SmartGrowth ( to promote smart growth principles); and Legal (enforcing local land use planning and governments compliance with the state's Growth Management Act). FOSC works and a non-partisan, non-profit advocate on behalf of all citizens of Skagit County and for future generations.
