Friends of Leverett Pond (FLP) work very hard to maintain the normal ecology of a 100-acre pond that is burdened by an invasive milfoil infestation. Working collaboratively with the Leverett Conservation Commission, FLP is introducing a new, minimally-intrusive Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plan based on a data-driven strategy to respond to, and actively manage, an otherwise ecosystem-altering infestation. Manual removal, coupled with highly targeted chemical suppression, appears to be leading to successful long-term management of the invasive.
