On April 14th 2023 this animal resource responded to a hcso call for my 2 service registered Chihuahuas because we were being incarcerated. Now I get all they know is what they heard which all charges were later dropped ,but still they knew who the owners of these dogs were and that we intended on getting them. Florida state law says we have 5 days to retrieve our animals and that the day of pick up does not count as day one . So on day 1 April 15th 2023 out full blooded min t cup apple head Chihuahuas were spayed and neutered , broken law #1 2 offenses. On day 2 April 17th 2023 our dogs were adopted out , broken law#2 2 offenses. Now my mother in law started making calls for pick up on day 1 April 15th when she was told our male , char was out riding around in the car with the lady who runs the place , she would get a call as soon as they returned, she called back 3 more times never got a return call. On day 2 she called again and , again was told someone would return her calls, never did . On day 3 she finally got a return call except it was not from the shelter it was from the daughter of Cindy MCclean who apparently adopted our dog telling my mother in law if she called again ,she would send Mexicans to her home and that the dog belonged to her mother now. I have hand delivered written letters to the resource center saying we want our dogs ,we've called saying we want our dogs. It's now been 2 months and we've not gotten one return letter, one phone call or any response to our return of our animals that we ha e had since before there eyes were opened so now I'm responding again here on this page. We want our animal back. Your whole dealing has been illegal and for better use of words , very unprofessional. You have stole our dogs and our property and we want them back. We are filing actions of equity on the adoptees and any and all fees will be the responsibility of you and your illegal ways. You broke every statue of the Florida law when it comes to this situation.
I've decided to take the first step in opening my first dog rescue. My plan is to start off small. Maybe 10 dogs that need help, love, and adopted. If all goes well I would of course expand, but I honestly do not have the first clue how to put this dream into motion. Any advice or information on the how to's would be very appreciated. Thank you
I have the most beautiful, loving fur baby who will now be able to live a long and happy life thanks to the resources fo FoHCAS. She will be heartworm free and just be able to be her funny, clumsy, HUGE Mastiff self. 'Murica ♡
My mom lives on ssi & fell in love with a senior poodle with heartworms that was dumped at the Hillsborough County shelter. Since my mom lives on ssi, she doesn't have alot of extra money. Thankfully, Fohcas stepped up & paid for heartworm treatment. This allowed my mom to adopt 'Bella' without the stress of worrying on how to pay for treatment herself. I help network alot of shelter animals & they help so many medical needy shelter pets. It was easy & no fuss. They are awesome
Bella is a 10 year old Shitzu who was on the Euth list at the Humane Society. She had so many medical problems including skin that no one would have adopted her. I adopted her and with help of this organization Bella is 100 percent well and everyone says how lucky and blessed Bella was to find me and this organization. I believe I am equally blessed because Bella seems like a gift from Heaven. Thank you Jackie and this organization for all you do.
FOHCAS does an amazing job to help the animals adopted from the shelter. They have assisted so many families who wanted to adopt a particular pet but that pet had some medical issues that would be too costly for the family without FOHCAS's help. They are an organization that truly cares and does all they can to help. Without them many of the pets they have helped would not have had a chance of having a forever home.
FoHCAS is just an amazing non-profit group. I have been involved in rescuing dogs from HCAS for quite some time and have come to know this organization well. If it wasn't for FoHCAS, so many more dogs would not have made it out of the shelter alive. FoHCAS covers medical costs for dogs who need some kind of medical attention. Many adopters wouldn't have been able to adopt the pet they did because of the costs to treat whatever medical condition the animal had at the time. Thanks to FoHCAS, those dogs got adopted! One of the big things they pay for is heart worm treatment. We see so many dogs come into the shelter with heart worms and sadly this used to be a death sentence because many adopters would not adopt a HW+ dog because of the cost to treat it. Now, thanks to FoHCAS, that is no longer the case. They will pay for the treatment and this has resulted in so many more dogs saved! FoHCAS has also paid for leg amputations and so many other things. I just love this organization and every time I can, I donate to FoHCAS! They are my favorite non-profit because they SAVE LIVES!!!!
I have known about FoHCAS for some time and admired the work they were doing to help medically needy animals. So when I decided to commit time to volunteering, it seemed logical that they would be the place to go. I am honored to be part of FoHCAS, to represent them and their mission at community events, and to help the wonderful folks who adopt or foster out of the Pet Resource Center get the medical treatment their pets need.
I have always contributed in some way to our local shelter and had planned a donation/fundraising event to be held at a local restaurant. It started to get a little bigger than I anticipated (which was great!) so I contacted a rescue friend who put me in touch with Friends of HCAS. They came to the event and helped make it a success in such a huge way that I HAD to became a volunteer! It has been the most wonderful experience! I have met some of the best people with the biggest hearts! Every single person I have met through this organization is dedicated to one thing and one thing only - saving the lives of the animals who find themselves at HCAS/HCPRC. We do this by paying for the medical needs of animals who otherwise may not be adopted. From the President all the way down to little ole me....each of us feels it is our duty and our privilege to help save these beautiful animals. Each of these animals has a story, each deserves our protection and the chance to find their furever families. Virtually every single dime that comes to FoHCAS goes right back out to help the animals. It is an honor to be associated with FoHCAS and I would happily and proudly encourage anyone looking to make a difference to join us in some way!
My family fostered a dog from HCAS/PRC in January. She was being overlooked for adoption because of decreased muscle mass in her right rear leg. She was on the list to be euthanized. We pulled her at the last minute. Friends of HCAS paid for her surgery. After rehab she came out of her shell and became an incredible animal. Rosie has earned her Canine Good Citizenship Certification and is on her way to becoming a therapy dog.
Without FoHCAS, this dog would not be here today!
We were so grateful, we adopted Rosie and I started volunteering with FoHCAS!
Thanks again!
These are some of the best people!
I adopted an older shepherd who is heart worm positive and they have been generous and paid for his treatments.
They are also very friendly and easy to work with.
They do so much good for our four legged babies.
Thanks for all you do FOHCAS!
I have been following FOHCAS since I adopted my dog from HCAS two years ago. When we found out our dog we'd be adopting was heartworm positive, FOHCAS was helpful and had lots of information to share. FOHCAS is wonderful in advocating for the animals at HCAS.
Wow! What a truly amazing organization! I had adopted a kitty from Hillsborough County Animal Services and when I took him to the vet they told me he had to have 11 teeth pulled because he was in severe pain! I wasn't prepared for this expensive procedure and felt so helpless until someone told me to turn to FoHCAS. I emailed them and got a quick response with a form to fill out. Jackie was so helpful and handled my panicky phone calls with grace and urgency. I would not have been able to handle the cost without the help of FoHCAS!! Thank you so much!!!
Friends of Hillsborough County Animal Services, Inc. is a non-profit born in the minds of volunteers who saw wonderful animals in our county's animal shelter being euthanized for treatable medical issues. Our vision has materialized into a 501c3 nonprofit that has provided medical treatment this year (as of Oct 31, 2014) to over 135 animals that otherwise would probably not have made it out of the shelter. We are an all volunteer organization - no paid employees - with over 90% of donations going to help the animals. I am proud of the work we do.
