Causes: International, Promotion of International Understanding
Mission: The organization hopes to achieve a better understanding of cultural differences through an exchange program, hosting students from foreign countries who experience living with host families and participating in community activities.
Programs: In oregon: the organization held two cultural programs at the youth prison in woodburn, oregon with approximately 30 inmates attending each time. The organization also hosts the shriners hospital program called musicians toy run which is for the benefit of children in need of medical equipment. The organization sponsored a civil engineering student from niger to observe and discuss agriculture, water and sustainability projects within our region. The organization hosted a thank you dinner for 45 volunteers who run the community food bank. The organization sponsored a father/daughter event in partnership with portland superhero coalition, providing toys and superhero visits to 150 terminally ill children regionally. The organization participated in celebration of international peace month in sherwood, sponsoring a peace pole. The organization partnered with sherwood friends of the library to fund acquisitions to the children's bilingual collection, encouraging literacy among our region's latino and spanish speaking community. Internationally: the organization continued its project in mexico at a rural school of 200 students, providing science lab support and books, both to the school's library and classroom sets of books to foster literacy.
