The program's objective is to provide healthy meals to children when school is not in session. The funds are from the u. S. Department of agriculture, passed through the indiana department of education.
the backpack program provides school-age children in northwest indiana with backpacks filled with food that students could take home when resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
the pantry on the go program is a mobile pantry that distributes food directly to individuals in distressed communities throughout lake and porter counties that may not have access to a traditional food pantry.
