Causes: Disaster Aid, Public Safety, Disaster Preparedness & Relief
Mission: To assemble diverse interests in a coalition that will work together on solutions to reduce the loss of lives and property from the threat of fires in and around montana communities.
Programs: 200- outreach, education, and collaboration: outreach and education activities for the 2017 tax-year include: statewide tv, radio, and newspaper multimedia 'ad champaign' to promote seasonal hazardous fuel mitigation and fire preparedness by montana state citizens; hosting of several educational presentations around montana about activities homeowners can take to protect their homes from wildfire, workshops on building in the wildland urban interface and the new building codes for the state of montana; presented at a meeting with bankers and insurance agents about building in the wui and preventative measures to limit fire hazards around the site and new home; hosted a series of 'era of megafire' presentations on ecological, social, and environmental factors that are increasing fire size with severe landowner consequences in western montana and the northern rockies region; and, continued the series of 'roaring lion fire' educational workshops started to showcase fire strategy and mitigation efforts in western montana. Fsm's annual meeting continue to discuss and promote proactive and diverse fire-related actions in collaborative engagement with communities, agencies, and other organizations to reduce the loss of lives and property from the threat of fires in montana.
