Volunteering at Faith Equestrian has been a life-changing experience. From the time I attended orientation, my heart has been continuously touched by the dedication of its director and volunteers to provide therapeutic horseback-riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities. I have always been an animal lover and had compassion for people with disabilties. To see the bond that forms between the horses and these amazing people cannot be described, but it should be witnessed by everyone. The students of Faith Equestrian suffer from a range of disabilities that include cerebral palsy, autism, spina bifida, arthritis and Downs Syndrome. Therapeutic riding improves their physical strength, coordination, balance, focus, self-esteem and verbal skills. Because of the director's devotion to carry out her mission along with hours of training and education, Faith Equestrian offers people with disabilities on opportunity that they would not otherwise have. It has truly been an honor to serve these loving, gentle, nonjudgmental, and amazingly positive people who want to be afforded the same opportunities that the rest of us are given.
