Causes: Education
Mission: The purpose of expo elementary council of parents and teachers, inc. (the council) is to support the students and staff of expo elementary school, a kindergarten through 5th grade public school within the saint paul public school system (spps), and to further the educational goals of the school in any way it can including fundraising to pay for classroom supplies, field trips, invited speakers and performers who visit the school, community building activities and other items. There were 677 students at expo elementary this year.
Programs: $42,212 of money that was donated to the council or raised through fundraisers was spent on classroom supplies, community events within expo elementary school and equipment for expo elementary school. This benefited all 677 students at the school. $746 of the expenses were classified as grants as they were paid to the saint paul public schools district (spps) to reimburse them for supplies and school events they had paid for.
$40,416 of donations/money raised through fundraisers was spent on field trips for the students of expo elementary school. This benefited all the students at the school. The most expensive field trip ($21,904) is a trip for the 5th graders to the boundary waters canoe area in the spring done as a team building/personal challenge exercise for the students before they move up to middle school. $7,548 of the field trip expenses were classified as grants as they were paid to the saint paul public schools district to reimburse them for transportation and other expenses they had paid for.
$16,752 of fundraiser money and donations was spent on providing all of the students at expo elementary school with supplementary educational experiences, including $15,972 for music programs provided by mcphail center for music and lau hawaiian collective since the school district no longer provides music program to expo elementary school.
$2,086 was spent on: professional development for teachers ($450), childcare provided for parents attending meetings at expo elementary ($485), and other miscellaneous expenses that benefited the children, staff and families and promoted community spirit at the school ($1,151).
