Mission: To enhance the lives of clark county older adults by offering quality services that promote general well-being, independent living and socialization.
Programs: Education and socialization programs for older adults that promote general well-being and independent living. We served over 56,000 duplicated clients in our programs, events, activities, classes, trips and tours. These programs allow older adults to live active healthy lives and reduce the detrimental effects of isolation often prevalent in the aging population. We coordinate and monitor over 350 volunteers for more than 41,000 hours of volunteer services to agenices and nonprofits in the county. We publish 6 newsletters per year to publicize the events, along with weekly newspaper calendars and weekly e-news letters.
nutrition services for the elderly provides nutritious hot and cold meals at 7 congregate sites throughout clark county, and to people in their homes. Over 113,000 meals were served to 1,272 older adults.
in-home services give support to older adults so they can live independently in our community. These services include transportation, homemaker, personal care, respite, chore, medical claims/rx assistance, income tax assistance, emergency assistance, adult daycare,caregiver support, and care coordination for the elderly. Over 132,548 miles of transportation, 21,609 hours of respite/homemaker/personal care and chore services, 1,655 appointments for medical claims/rx assistance, income tax, bill payer, legal, heap and emergency assistance, 1,481 blood pressure checks, 598 hours of health screenings and 679 hours of adult daycare assistance.
mental health assessments and services for the elderly provides assistance to older adults in preventing depression and isolation due to issues relating to aging. These services include social recreation, gatekeeper, guardianship, outreach, telephone reassurance and friendly visiting. We collaborate with professionals from mental health services of clark county who provide counseling and refer clients to our agency for supervised recreation. This type of program has proven to be a non threatening approach to getting older adults to access mental health services.
