Mission: Making a difference in the lives of children by creating a positive future for abused and neglected children as well as recruiting and training highly qualified volunteers to ensure the safety, protection and permanent placement of children
Programs: Court appointed special advocates (casa's) are volunteers who speak out for abused and neglected children. Casa volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over the best interests of the child and be the child's voice in court. Their goal is for children who have suffered abuse to have a permanent placement. Volunteers provide advocacy by being involved in all aspects of the child's life while he or she is in care by providing a stable, caring adult role model. Casa minimizes the children's time in foster care and strives to find a permanent home from them. Volunteer advocates donate between ten and fifteen hours per month on average. In-kind expenses of $85,840 for volunteer donated services are not included in expenses above, but are recorded in casa's august 31, 2017 financial statements.
getting together safely ("gts") provides court ordered supervised visitation designed for children to spend time with their noncustodial parent in a safe and nonthreatening environment. Voluteers serve as monitors to insure the safety and well-being of the child. When a parent is no longer seen by the court as able to have unsupervised visits, the court may require supervision. When this is the case, it can be difficult for parents to schedule and pay for a private supervisor. Gts provides scheduled visits at a reduced rate to ensure that children are able to continue seeing their parents.
