DASH is truly one of the most impactful and inspiring organizations I’ve encountered. Their team is made up of incredibly hardworking and compassionate individuals who are deeply dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence and housing insecurity. They don’t just provide services—they go above and beyond to ensure every survivor feels safe, heard, and empowered. DASH’s work in the community is transformative, offering stable housing while collaborating with the DC government to create meaningful, lasting change. Their commitment to getting it right and putting survivors first is evident in everything they do. DASH is more than an organization; it’s a lifeline for so many, and their impact is felt far and wide.

My organization was looking to support a local cause through our community impact program, and I knew DASH would be the perfect partner! We enjoyed great communication with staff to guide us in securing much-needed resources for DASH residents, and getting personal care items into their hands to help them live comfortably (as they so deserve). DASH is an awesome non-profit to work with, and we'll be back to partner again in the future!

I've been the co-liaison for DASH for the last 7+ years, as a member of CREW DC's Philanthropy committee.
We are so proud of the work DASH has done to provide safe housing for countless survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families, no matter their race or gender.
We continue to partner together to raise funds and awareness, that safe housing should not be privilege.

DASH is constantly improving its processes and policies, and I saw this firsthand as a consultant with DASH for the past year and a half. They are a leading expert in housing for domestic violence victims and practice an approach that sets their survivors up for maximum success once they complete the program.

I continue to be impressed by the amazing work of DASH. As a DC resident, I see the passion and commitment of the DASH team to serving women and families who are survivors of domestic violence. Working locally in the DMV has such a positive impact on our community. DASH provides so much with limited resources and works with integrity and compassion to provide the comprehensive services these families need.

DASH is an incredible organization, with amazing team members led by an extraordinary CEO, Koube Ngaaje. DASH has an innovative model that allows them to serve the DV community (including children and the elderly) in transformative and inclusive ways. DASH is in fact the largest provider of safe housing for underserved survivors of domestic & sexual violence in DC and its services are absolutely critical for the DMV area. Under Koube's leadership, DASH has very deservedly won numerous awards for its unique and outstanding model, services and team. I feel very privileged to be involved with DASH!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and there is no better time to recognize the outstanding contributions of this dynamic, female-led organization that is providing survivors with the opportunity to create lives free from violence. DASH is an organization that reflects the strength of the diversity of our community in creating a better future for all.

I've been working as a support partner in a volunteer role with DASH for going on 5 years now. I was first introduced to them in my prior company, and their mission, along with how thoughtfully and impactfully they carry it out, made such an impact on me that I knew I wanted to support them from then on out. I've now begun working with them in a support role on a volunteer basis at my current company, and throughout the years, I have been so impressed with the measure of care they put into their residents' well-being. They are continuously making building updates and improving the overall quality of life for the clients. Safety is by far the highest priority for those in their care, and their commitment to their vision of providing a safe home for everyone is the best I have ever seen throughout different non-profits and organizations in the DC region. I will continue to find ways to support their mission, as they truly have a life-saving and life-changing impact on those who come into their care, and I will continue to encourage others to support DASH as well. Thank you for all that you do!

The services that DASH offers to survivors of domestic violence and their families are valuable and much needed. Volunteering at DASH has been a very rewarding experience and I encourage everyone to support DASH through volunteering or donating. The housing units where survivors live are all renovated and furnished with new appliances. They truly provide survivors with a warm, welcoming, and safe home. The staff is very friendly and super helpful.

I'm so grateful to have an organization like DASH in our community. As a volunteer, I've been impressed and inspired by how the organization centers the experiences and voices of survivors. Where a lot of similar organizations take a "mile wide and a foot deep" approach, DASH has maintained a clear focus on expanding the work they are equipped to do best: providing meaningful, sustainable support to survivors in DC.

I have been continually impressed by the work that DASH does, and I am proud to be a consistent donor and avid supporter. In a year where safety seems especially fragile and fleeting, the work DASH does couldn't be more critical, and I am grateful to the entire staff for their dedication, courage, and commitment. There is no greater pursuit than that of giving safety, support, and space to others, and I hope everyone both acknowledges this and participates in that mission in all the ways they can. Thank you, DASH, for all that you do!

I am the Treasurer for the DC Revolution rugby team and as a team we did a holiday fundraiser of nonperishable foods to donate to DASH. I had a great experience working with DASH to organize the drop off and the team was excited to support a local non profit. We look forward to working with DASH more in the future.

I volunteered and interned with DASH years ago, as an undergraduate student. The residents and staff at DASH are such wonderful people, and I learned so much working alongside the Resident Advocates. My time at DASH eventually inspired me to pursue a Masters in Social Work, which I am currently in school for.

DASH DC is an amazing organization and I am thankful to have been able to help them in any manner. During my time working with them, I learned a great deal about their cause and some of the amazing people who work there.

I volunteered to help them with their Web Analytics to help them identify the content and search terms people were using to get to their site. Using this information, it would help them build a better experience that resonates with who they are trying to help.

The team there is superb and it was one of the most impactful and fulfilling projects I have been a part of knowing that they're trying their best to reach out and help those in need, particularly due to the uncontrollable circumstances of those they're trying to help.

I volunteered with DASH's weekly art group for two years, and really enjoyed my time! Art Group is a great way to connect with the children at DASH, whether we are doing a project or playing in the playground. The kids are always excited to start a new project, and it is a great way to connect with the community.

I am a proud board member of DASH! What drew me to this fantastic organization was the low barrier, survivor-centered support that provides apartment style living for survivors and their children. Most young children who have lived there never even knew they were in a support program! Also, DASH's Survivor's Resilience Fund is incredibly unique in that it gives survivors the bridge money they need for immediate, real-life expenses that are standing in between them and homelessness. Sometimes a hand up like that is all it takes to give survivors the "breathing room" they need to get back on their feet. In this day and age of endless bureaucracy, it's quite extraordinary and so meaningful to those that need it most.

This non-profit misses the mark. Its director leaves much to be desired. The staff rarely answers the phone and if director does she is of little help. Phone calls for survivors are rarely returned. We are tired of non-profits who barely give more than provide good job references to their upwardly mobile staff. on Wednesdays they are in a church paired up with a legal clinic that rarely accepts clients to represent but mainly there to do just intakes. The purpose of why DASH is there remains to be seen, what they do is give their phone number and ask you to call then do not answer or call back

DASH is an absolutely incredible operation. Lots of nonprofits, especially in the DV field, sacrifice the process in order to provide the fastest, biggest impact possible. DASH doesn't sacrifice the process, or the person, for metrics. DASH is not only doing amazing work to take trauma informed care to the next level, but they're also changing the game for nonprofit business practices. I can't say enough about the work of DASH.

Before volunteering at DASH, I lived in my own bubble and was not aware of the seriousness of domestic violence and sexual abuse and how women (along with their children) who were victims, suffered . DASH educated me through from their volunteering orientation about domestic violence, in addition to the services that DASH offers to women and their families to help them recover from their traumatic experiences. I was shocked about the statistics on domestic violence and sexual abuse, however, a part of that shock was offset because of what I learned about DASH's impact on the community. In just 2013 alone, DASH housed 94 women and 131 children in addition to providing over 80,000 safe-nights for victims. Imagine being abused and oppressed, living in fear and having no voice or no where to run to -- it's frightening. Well, this is what makes DASH such a rewarding place to volunteer because DASH gives women a place to escape, to feel safe.

Furthermore, what I have really enjoyed about volunteering at DASH is how well the organization is structured. Everything is well-run and all of the staff are always on top of everything. The organization is constantly active with programs that help the residents and there is always something for everyone to do. I would definitely recommend this organization to anyone looking for a place to work, volunteer or support.
