Programs: One woman one goat (owog) programs in tanzania: i)expanded the programs at the kagondo women cooperative goat farm as well to include ten community teachers at a kiteyagwa public school. The purpose is aimed at making sure the 800 school children who spend all school days throughout the year at school without any breakfast or lunch can now be fed (breakfast). Ii)with the help of partner church in minnesota (edina covenant church) cosad expanded the project to 20 women of kangabusharo kitwe in bukoba rural. Water retention systems goats pennies as well as technical support was provided in addition to purchasing 20 goats. This was made possible by $10,000 generous donation from edina covenant church friend.
international & local volunteers impactin 2014 cosad also had the largest volunteer impact in history. The organization worked with over 500 local and international volunteers from the usa, canada, europe and tanzania, uganda, rwanda, etc. All ranging from 7 days average of volunteer time to 12 month a year. Both the number of hours (in kind donations) and monetary values to their service cannot be overstated. The diversity of the individuals as well as the groups is also appreciated since the volunteers included, artists, teachers, musicians, pastors, nurses, doctors, business professionals, etc. Who rendered their skills, passion and expertise to make a difference in the world. It is estimated that averaging at 7 hours per volunteer---total time donated to cosad is 15,000 hours of volunteer time.
the october grand opening of social enterprise projects in tanzaniain 2014 cosad witnessed it biggest growth in its history by officially launching the social enterprise projects which are designed to make an organization self-sustaining. The grand openings celebrations of these projects took place in october 3-5th in bukoba, tanzania and was presided by government and international dignitaries including government ministers and the us embassy in tanzania. The businesses launched included:? The state-of-the-art-cosad medical clinic? The cosad women cooperative goat farm? The imuka recording studio and cultural creativity center? Bukoba biz & community lounge? The cosad international volunteers resource center
educational programs: the bruce lane johnson (blj) community resource centers program was expanded as part of the grand opening of social enterprise self-sustaining plan. The central bukoba business center now serves as a hub to all bljs community resource centers in our communities of kangabusharo, kagondo, and izigo. The total cost of this endeavor was 6,150 us dollars. Impact: in addition to partner communities the entire city of bukoba and international cosad volunteer communities visiting bukoba can now have access to engage in exchange of ideas which result into finding solutions for social and economic challenges in the region. The center is estimated to serve over 20,000 a year as it is refurbished with state of the art technology (computers, ipads, projectors, etc. ) to enable business and conferences to use latest technology.
