Mission: Community Lodgings, Inc.(CLI) seeks to improve the lives of homeless and low-income families living in Alexandria by providing an integrated program of housing and social services. CLI has formally adopted a four-fold mission: 1)To acquire and preserve affordable housing in Alexandria.2)To operate a Transitional Housing Program.3)To remove seriously at risk children from continuously threatening environments.4)To empower Alexandrians of modest means to seek out the housing, educational, and vocational opportunities that will lead them to more productive lives and break the cycle of homelessness.
Programs: The housing program consists of transitional and affordable housing units provided to homeless and low income families. The program includes 44 apartments provided at below market rental rates to residents of the city of alexandria. During the year 6 were designated for housing homeless families from shelters in alexandria. As part of this transitional program, families pay 30% of their income as a program fee. It is a two-year program designed to provide education, counseling, job placement, and financial and budget mentoring to stabilize the families for when they leave the program.
the youth and adult education program provides educational programs for adults, youths, and families living in the neighborhood and in the transitional housing apartments. The youth education program is highly academic, mirroring the curriculums being presented in the local schools.
