Mission: Community connection place envisions university place as a community filled with thriving children, active families and engaged seniors who invest in one another for common future. We also envision a new multi-generational community center that provides all residents with opportunities for education, recreation and social connections. We gather and use resources to provide services, programs and events that recognizes, develops and utilizes the full potential residing in each person. We fulfill our vision and mission and meet the needs of our community by specifically engaging members of the community who have become isolated by social and economic barriers. We see those who feel invisible and welcome them to become active, valued members of the community all while helping our community leaders to become aware and responsive to the needs of our broad and diverse base of residents. The primary goals of community connection place are to provide immediate services to those in need in our
Programs: Senior programs yoga, tai chi, book club, mahjong, art group, dominoes, pinochle and bingo are provided for the seniors followed by lunch meals served by the community catholic services every friday. We also provide foot care on the first wednesday of every month. The camp connection the camp connection was started on june 26th and ran until august 18th, it was held at evergreen primary school in university place. Community connections place is now a state licensed day camp and also ospi summer meal program. We had 44 children sign up for the camp. Which they enjoyed one field trip a week. Some of the fieldtrips were in house which included the parrot lady, reptile man, and hula lessons. Before and after school program the before and after school program began on march 26th at the community connection place community center. We currently have 18 children enrolled in the program. Children get to go on field trips. They recently went to the childrens museum in tacoma.
