CIS Gadsden dedicates itself to the underserved children... those who are in danger of "falling through the cracks" without community support. For these young people, succeeding in school and graduating can be a hopeless, unreachable dream.
CIS Gadsden has a proven track record of improving student outcomes in academic achievement and behavior patterns. Students who participate in CIS Gadsden programs and projects have increased promotion and graduation rates, have fewer discipline referrals, improved attendance, and improved FCAT scores. Our results are remarkable—even more so when considering the risk factors present in the lives of these students. CIS is fulfilling its mission with Gadsden's most at-risk youth.
Student Risk Factors:
Typical CIS students have one or more of the following risk factors:
•Low achievement
•Retention/over age for grade
•Poverty
•Poor attendance
•Eligible for free or reduced lunch
