Causes: Education
Mission: The community education coalition (cec) is a partnership of education, business, and community stakeholders focused on aligning and integrating our community learning system, economic development, and quality of life.
Programs: The cec serves as the primary backbone organization that facilitates the development of the community and regional learning system of southeast indiana, consistent with the formation and expansion of the economic opportunity through education by 2015 (eco15) initiative (now called the eco network). The eco network consists of several networks including a regional guiding team of public, private, and social sector leaders that serves an (1) education attainment network, (2) advanced manufacturing education network, and (3) health care education network at present. The network(s) continues to conduct work through investment by the partnership, and including a 2012 lilly endowment follow on grant of $2. 1 million. The original "eco15" work began with very generous support from lilly endowment inc. Of $26 million, including the construction of the advanced manufacturing center of excellence on the college campus in columbus, in. Indiana university purdue university columbus, purdue polytechnic columbus, and ivy tech community college of indiana conduct educational programs to serve students pursuing technology and engineering related programs leading to workforce certifications, 2-year, and 4-year degree. The 2012 follow on grant is being used for further development of the networks listed above. The overall goal of the cec and eco network is to help each resident of indiana move up at least one level from an education and or career standpoint.
