Programs: The cochise county sheriff assist team (sat) is made up of trained citizen volunteers who assist the sheriff's office with non-law-enforcement duties. We are a volunteer force-multiplier combining the experience of our members with the specialized training and expertise of the sheriff's office, helping to release sworn personnel from duties that delay them from direct law enforcement tasks. Members do not take enforcement action, carry weapons, or make arrests. Sat volunteers perform the following duties: emergency call outs, neighborhood watch, fingerprinting, crime scene security, jail reception, dui task force assistance, radar trailer placement, special event security, traffic control, vacation house checks, evacuation notifications and community events support.
the cochise county sheriff assist team (sat) made cash grants to educational institutions and charitable organizations serving cochise county. Grants were made to meet human and social needs, especially those of individuals impacted by crime and poverty. Grants were also made to support education in the areas of law enforcement. As a result of the annual charity ride, sat was able to award $26,000 in grants in 2017.
